Wagah Blast Condemned

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on November 3, 2014.

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) expresses its shock and grief at the suicide bombing attack at the Wagah border which has caused the deaths of 55 people including women and children. The blast occurred at Wagah at the time of the flag lowering ceremony.

This horrific attack underlines the threat posed by the extremist-terrorist groups in both Pakistan and India which needs to be countered by close cooperation between the two countries.

No to Cut in Subsidies

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on October 31, 2014.

The finance ministry has decided to implement a ten percent cut in the government’s non-plan expenditure for the current financial year. These austerity measures do not involve only a ban on first air travel or meetings in five star hotels, but subsidies will bear the main brunt of the cuts. This would mean cut in subsidies meant for the people and welfare measures.

CPI(M) to Hold All India Protest Day on Nov 26 Against BJP Govt’s Moves to Subvert MGNREGA

The CPI(M) will organise a Mass Dharna in Delhi on Nov 26 led by chief minister of Tripura, Manik Sarkar against BJP government’s moves to curtail MGNREGA, which is a serious onslaught on the rights and livelihood of the rural poor. It calls upon all the democratic forces and mass organisations to unitedly oppose these changes.

Punish the Guilty

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on November 5, 2014.

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly condemns the brutal killing in Chattargram, Kashmir of two innocent schoolboys, one of them a student of Class 7, by the army. Two others were seriously injured in the firing.

CPI(M) Leaders Meet Home Minister On J&K Flood Situation

A CPI(M) delegation consisting of Sitaram Yechury, Polit Bureau member and leader of the CPI(M) group in Rajya Sabha and Mohd Yusuf Tarigami, Central Committee member and secretary of Jammu & Kashmir state committee of the CPI(M) and member of the legislative assembly of Jammu & Kashmir met the home minister of India on October 27, 2014 and discussed the issues contained in the memorandum submitted in order to provide greater and more meaningful relief for the people suffering as victims of this unprecedented natural disaster in the state of Jammu & Kashmir.
