CPI(M) Leaders Meet Home Minister On J&K Flood Situation

A CPI(M) delegation consisting of Sitaram Yechury, Polit Bureau member and leader of the CPI(M) group in Rajya Sabha and Mohd Yusuf Tarigami, Central Committee member and secretary of Jammu & Kashmir state committee of the CPI(M) and member of the legislative assembly of Jammu & Kashmir met the home minister of India on October 27, 2014 and discussed the issues contained in the memorandum submitted in order to provide greater and more meaningful relief for the people suffering as victims of this unprecedented natural disaster in the state of Jammu & Kashmir.

Left Parties to Meet on Nov 1 to Chalk out Nationwide Joint Campaign

ADDRESSING media persons in Kolkata on October 17, 2014, CPI(M) General Secretary Prakash Karat said that various Left parties are coming together on a nationwide platform for a joint campaign. In the political situation after the Modi government was formed, there is a rightwing offensive. In order to counter this, there is a need for a strengthened Left, which is possible only by forging a wider Left unity.

Implement Coal Nationalisation Act in Right Earnest

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statements on October 22.
FOLLOWING the Supreme Court order quashing the allocation of 214 coal blocks, the Modi government seems to have decided to promulgate an ordinance empowering the government to take back these coal blocks and reallocate them to private entities through an e-auction.

Shramev Jayate: Interests of Investors, Not Workers

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on October 17, 2014.

SHRAMEV Jayate Karyakram, inaugurated by the prime minister on October 16 with much fanfare, means nothing much to the working people in the country.

The Universal Account Number for Employees Provident Fund Subscribers facilitating portability, in case of change in employment was being worked out for the last few years. The present government has just signalled its implementation.

Doordarshan’s RSS Telecast Condemned

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on September 3.

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) condemns the decision of Doordarshan to telecast live the speech of the RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat on the occasion of Vijaya Dashami. The RSS uses the occasion to propagate its Hindutva ideology.

The national public broadcaster has no business to telecast live the speech of the chief of an organisation like the RSS. Such an action shows how the public broadcaster is being misused by the Modi government.

Reduce Diesel Prices

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on October 6, 2014.

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) registers its protest over the refusal of the government and the Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) to reduce the price of diesel, despite the fall in crude oil prices in the international market.

Price of Brent crude, the global oil price benchmark has fallen below $92 a barrel. It is reported that the OMCs are earning Rs 1.90 on every litre of diesel as `over recovery’.
