Anti-People Policies: Left Parties Plan Demonstrations across Jharkhand

SIX Left parties in Jharkhand have decided to stage protest demonstrations before the Governor House’s in Ranchi and at all district headquarters on July 20 on the issues affecting the people of the state including spiralling price rise, delay and non-supply of text books in government schools and privatisation of public health services.At a meeting in Ranchi on July 6, leaders of the six parties -- CPI(M), CPI, CPI(ML), Marxist Co-ordination Committee (MCC), RSP and SUCI(C) -- took serious note of the high-level corruption in BJP governments in various states as well as at the Centre.

Thinking Together

THE People’s Democracy had in earlier years carried a regular column called “Thinking Together”. This column would answer questions sent by readers on topical issues and the Party’s view on such issues. The column also used to answer questions regarding the Party’s policies and understanding on major national and international developments.

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), now in session at Delhi, has issued the following statement on July 6, 2015

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) warmly congratulates the people of Greece who have given a resounding “No” verdict in the referendum. With a 61.3 percent vote, the Greek people have resoundingly rejected the bailout austerity measures sought to be imposed upon them by the neo-liberal forces represented by the Troika comprising the IMF, European Central Bank and the European Commission.

Appeal to the Readers

THE price of People’s Democracy is being increased from Rs 5 to Rs 7 from the issue dated August 3-9, 2015. This increase has been necessitated by the escalating cost of production of the paper. The price of newsprint has gone up substantially in the past three years. So also, the cost of printing and other expenses.

Left Parties call for Protest Day On July 20

Leaders of six Left parties – CPI(M), CPI, AIFB, RSP, CPI(ML)-Liberation and SUCI(C) met on July 5, 2015 and issued the following statement:

1. All the claims made by the BJP central government and the prime minister that during the course of this one year the NDA government has offered a corruption free administration are being thoroughly exposed by the day.

It is notable that 75 percent of the 18-25 years age group of young people voted “No” as they see no future in this rotten systemTHE Greek people have delivered a resounding “No” in the referendum held on July 5. 61.3 percent of those who voted rejected the harsh austerity measures which are sought to be imposed upon them by the neo-liberal “Troika” of the International Monetary Fund, the European Central Bank and the European Commission. Accepting the bailout conditions would have meant further cuts in wages, pensions and more privatisation.
