J&K: Unitedly Raise Voice in Defense of Working People in J&K: CITU

AS part of nation-wide demands day on July 10, hundreds of workers carrying red flags and banners assembled at Sheri Kashmir Park to mark the demands day.Organised by the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), the rally was attended by scheme workers, daily wagers and contract, seasonal workers associated with Kashmir Constructional Workers Union.While addressing the rally, CITU state president, Mohamad Yousuf Tarigami said that the present dispensation is making every attempt to erode whatever achievements were made by the working class over the years.

AIRTWF Demands Haryana Govt to Cancel Gazette Notification to Issue Permits to Private Operators

THE All India Road Transport Workers’ Federation (AIRTWF) has strongly called upon the government of Haryana to rescind the recently issued gazette notification permitting private operators to run bus services on various routes. The notification, issued on July 8, 2024, authorizes the issuance of 3,658 stage carriage permits across 362 routes within the state.AIRTWF argues that this move will further deteriorate the already struggling Haryana Roadways.

Delhi: CPI(M) Protests against Price Rise

AT the call of CPI(M) Delhi state c ommittee, protest demonstrations were held in many areas of Delhi NCR on July 7,  2024 against the back breaking price rise of vegetables, fruits and milk. The protesters raised slogans against the policies of the central government which promotes forward trading, hoarding and accused the government of ignoring the problems of the common people.The protesters also alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party government of Delhi is maintaining silence in this difficult period and is not taking any concrete steps to solve the problems of the people.

Uttarakhand: Protest Demands Land Ownership Rights and Halt to Demolitions by the BJP Govt

A BIG demonstration was held at the Dehradun Secretariat on June 27, organised by various worker, political, and social organisations, including CITU, CPI(M), Chetna Andolan, AITUC, Kisan Sabha, Mahila Samiti, Sarvodaya Mandal, and SFI. Hundreds of activists from these organisations participated in the protest, which was supported by the Congress, SP, CPI, BSP, AIYU, Aandolankari Parishad, and Mahila Manch.The protest was held to demand land ownership rights and to stop the Dhami led BJP government's demolition drive.

The Importance of Being Julian Assange

ON June 25th, WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange walked out of Belmarsh high-security prison in London, where he had spent the last five years fighting extradition to the US on charges under the Espionage Act which if convicted could have sent him to prison for more than 170 years. Before that, he was confined to the Ecuadorian Embassy in London since 2012 where he had taken asylum.The hounding of Assange had started even before that. He was first arrested in London in 2010 based on an arrest warrant issued by Swedish police for rape allegations by two women.

CPI(M) Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on July 3FOLLOWING the meeting of the Central Committee, a section of the Malayalam media has manufactured totally concocted reports about the meeting. The latest is a report that puts words in the mouth of a member who it claims criticised the political line of the Party and made allegations against the general secretary when in fact the member did not participate in the discussion at all.
