MAHARASHTRA: 75th Anniversary of Warli Adivasi Revolt & State Kisan Sabha Formation

OVER 1000 leading activists from Thane-Palghar districts of Maharashtra took part in a remarkable function held on October 10, 2020 at the Comrade Godavari Shamrao Parulekar Bhawan at Talasari to observe the anniversary of four historic events.The first three were the 75th anniversaries of the formation of the Maharashtra Rajya Kisan Sabha on January 7, 1945; the beginning of the famed Warli Adivasi Revolt on May 23, 1945; and the martyrdom at the hands of the British rulers of the first five adivasi comrades of this revolt on October 10, 1945.

DUJ Condemns Lockdown of Kashmir Times Office

THE sudden locking of the Kashmir Times office in Srinagar by the Estates Department on October 19, has left journalists stunned. The action comes on the heels of the arbitrary eviction of the Kashmir Times editor Anuradha Bhasin from her residence. The Delhi Union of Journalists, in a statement issued on October 20, has condemned these actions of the government that are clearly aimed at stifling the free press.DUJ  notes that Kashmir Times journalists were not permitted to take out their computers and other professional equipment before the eviction.

Comrade Maruti Manpade

THE All India Kisan Sabha, in a statement issued on October 20, paid tributes to the memory of Comrade Maruti Manpade who passed away at Solapur on 20th morning due to Covid related complications. He was 65 years old. A militant leader of the All India Kisan Sabha, presently vice president of Karnataka Prantha Raitha Sangha affiliated to AIKS, he worked for a long time as its president. He has been a member of the Central Kisan Committee for long and was also a member of the All India Kisan Council till his death. He was earlier a state secretariat member of the CPI(M).

Gross Inaccuracies in Police Records on Delhi Riots

CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Brinda Karat, called attention to inaccuracies in the police account of those who were killed in the communal violence in Delhi in February.In a letter to S N Srivastava, Delhi Commissioner of Police, on October 15, she highlighted that the police have, in various public statements and affidavits to the court, stated that the number of killed was 53 and omitted the name of one Sikander, son of Md Mullak.Brinda Karat said that Sikander was killed on February 27, the day of violence and in his inquest papers stated “alleged history of being found in unconscious stat

Bihar: CPI(M) Releases Election Manifesto

ELECTION manifesto for the Bihar elections was released in the state party office by the CPI(M) state secretary, Awadesh Kumar. Along with him, Arun Mishra, Sarvodaya Sharma, Rampari and Ganesh Shankar Singh were also present. A party's website and an app were also released in the same press conference. Awadesh Kumar placed the relevance of the present election in the state and the imminent need for the defeat of the JD(U) & BJP alliance.
