Left Unleashes Electoral Campaign in Telangana

TELANGANA state is having 17 parliamentary seats, out of which 4 seats namely Khammam, Nalgonda, Mahbubabad and Bhonagiri will be jointly contested by CPI (M) and CPI. CPI(M) is contesting Khammam and Nalgonda, CPI is contesting Bhonagiri and Mahbubabad. 

CPI(M) has officially announced the candidature of Mallu Laxmi from Nalgonda constituency and B Venkat from Khammam constituency. Kalluri Venkateswarlu and Goda Sreeramulu are contesting from Mahbubabad and Bhonagiri as CPI candidates.

Modi is Rattled and Desperate

ON March 27, Sitaram Yechury, general secretary of Communist Party of India (Marxist) has written to the Chief Election Commissioner, Election Commission of India drawing his attention to the announcement made by prime minister through an address to the nation on the achievements of Indian scientists. 

Meanwhile In Tripura

AS will appear in the same issue separately, a delegation comprising of CPI(M) and CPI leadership met the  Election Commission of India on March 25. In their submission to the ECI the Left leaders have reiterated their apprehensions regarding a free and fair election in Tripura which is scheduled to be held in two phases on April 11 and 18. 

CPI(M) Releases Election Manifesto for the 17th Lok Sabha

ON March 28, the CPI(M) released its election manifesto for the 17th Lok Sabha in the country. The Manifesto was released by Sitaram Yechury, general secretary of the Party along with Polit Bureau members Prakash Karat, S R Pillai, Brinda Karat, Hannan Mollah, Nilotpal Basu and Subhashini Ali.

While placing the manifesto Sitaram said that probably for the first time in the electoral history of the country or probably of the world , an audio version of the manifesto is also being released for the advantage of the most marginalised and disadvantaged sections.

79th Session of Indian History Congress at Bhopal

THE Indian History Congress, the major forum of Indian historians since 1935, was due to meet for its 79th session at the invitation of Savitribai Phule University, Pune, on December 28-30, 2018. About 1,500 members had paid delegate fee of Rs 2000 each by December 1, the last day set for it. But on December 10, barely a fortnight before the session was to be held; the host university announced that they would not be able to hold the session.
