Withdraw Order Derecognising APSC: DSMM

THE Dalit Shoshan Mukti Manch in a statement issued on May 30 has condemned the anti-democratic move of the administration of the IIT Madras that has de-recognised the Ambedkar–Periyar Study Circle (APSC), a voluntary body of students that has been functioning on the IIT Madras campus. The dean of students has cancelled the recognition given to APSC for its criticism of the policies of the RSS and the BJP government. It clearly shows the intolerance of the BJP led government at the centre to any dissent and criticism of its policies.

Modi on Minority Issues

IT is for the first time in the history of post-Independent India that the prime minister has been compelled to defend himself publicly that he is fully committed to the constitutional values of secularism. This affirmation by media, unfortunately for the whole country, has been made in American magazine Time, to which he gave an interview published on May 7 to 8, 2015. What is the reason for a prime minister of a sovereign democratic republic to defend his domestic policy before a foreign audience?

CPI(M) Leaders Visiting Atali Victims

THE attack on the minority community in Atali village of Haryana’s Faridabad district on May 25 was the result of a well-planned conspiracy by hardcore Hindutva forces. Preparations for the attack had been going on for many days in the area and people were mobilised from adjoining villages through spreading rumour. From the chain of events, it is clear that the attack was carried out with political and administrative patronage.

Greetings from Philippine Communist Party

Dear comrades,
Through you, the Partido Komunista ng Pilipinas (PKP-1930, the Philippine Communist Party) sends its warmest fraternal greetings to the 21st Congress of the Communist Party of India (Marxist).

Your 21st Congress is held when India is in the grip of a grave political and economic crisis, with the main rightwing party – the Hindu fundamentalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led by Narendra Modi – having grabbed central power with the reported unlimited use of money and the suppression of voting rights of opponents in the elections.
