CPI(M) Delegation Visits Sunpedh

A CPI(M) delegation with Brinda Karat, Polit Bureau member, Inderjeet Singh, senior Haryana state leader and Nathu Parsad, convenor of the Delhi DSMM and Faridabad district leaders went to the Sunperh village on October 21, to meet Jitender Kumar, father of the two infants, nine months baby girl Dibbu and her two year old brother Vaibhav who were burnt to death in the arson attack by the upper castes in the village while his wife Rekha is fighting for her life in a critical condition in hospital.

Conference of Asian Political Parties on “Silk Road”

FROM October 14-16, 2015, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China convened a special conference of the Asian political parties with the specific agenda of the reestablishment of the ancient “Silk Road”. Apart from the large Chinese delegation, 66 parties from 32 countries of Asia participated in this conference including many heads of State/governments. From India four parties were invited – CPI(M), CPI, BJP and Congress. Specific invitations were addressed to the general secretaries of both the CPI(M) and the CPI.

In the Name of the Cow

DADRI was not just an aberration or an isolated incident. Following the killing of Mohd Akhlaq by a mob in a village in Dadri on the false accusation of eating beef, there have been a spate of similar attacks using cow slaughter as the pretext. The death of 20 year old Noman after a truck carrying cattle was attacked in Sirmour district of Himachal Pradesh was followed by an arson attack in Udhampur on a truck carrying coal from Kashmir valley. Twenty three year old Zahid Ahmed died of burns sustained in this attack which was based on a malicious rumour about the killing of two cows.

A Bombing in Ankara, Turkey

ON October 10, two large bombs exploded at a peaceful political rally in Ankara, the capital of Turkey. The rally had been called by two of the most prominent trade unions in the country – KESK and DISK – under the banner, “Labour, Peace and Democracy.” KESK is a large union of public sector workers and DISK is propelled to the Left by the presence of activists who went into its ranks when the Left parties faced repression from the State in 1971 and 1980.

Impressive Rally of Tribals Calls for Implementing Forest Rights Act
