KERALA: Rahul’s Candidature from Wayanad: Cong Must Decide its Priority

THE primary aim of the CPI(M) in the April-May parliamentary election is to defeat the BJP and its allies, and the Congress must decide what its priority is, party general secretary Sitaram Yechury told a ‘Meet the Press’ event in Thiruvananthapuram on March 31 in response to a question on the candidature of Congress president Rahul Gandhi from Wayanad in Kerala.In Kerala, traditionally the political contest is between the CPI(M)-led LDF and the Congress-led UDF. The BJP is not a major force in the state.

Ensure Free & Fair Polls in Tripura

Reply to EC’s Letter

SITARAM Yechury, general secretary of Communist Party of India (Marxist) has written a reply to the letter from the chief election commissioner, Election Commission of India on March 30, on the issue of Prime Minister’s address to the nation.  A letter dated March 29, 2019 signed by the principal secretary, Election Commission of India, was received by Yechury regarding the complaint he had made of the prime minister’s address to the nation as being violative of the model code of conduct.The ECI has accepted the findings of a Commission constituted by it to examine this issue.

‘To Save Democracy, Defeat BJP’

CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Brinda Karat addressed a large rally in Suryapet on April 2 in support of the party candidate from Nalgonda parliamentary constituency in Telangana, Mallu Laxmi.Addressing the rally in Suryapet, Karat said 75 per cent of the parliamentarians were rich and lacked understanding of the problems faced by the common people. Women in the country are facing multiple problems, but there is barely any force in Parliament to take up their fight. Both the Congress and the BJP have delayed the passage of the Women’s Reservation Bill.

Meanwhile in Tripura

ELECTION campaign for the CPI(M) candidates has gained momentum in both the  seats of Tripura despite the ruling party continuing its terror tactics.  CPI(M) Polit Bureau member and leader of opposition, Manik Sarkar, addressed two public meetings on April 1-2  in Sonamurra and Agartala in support of Sankar Prasad Datta.  Both the meetings were well attended.

Modi is Rattled and Desperate

ON March 27, Sitaram Yechury, general secretary of Communist Party of India (Marxist) has written to the Chief Election Commissioner, Election Commission of India drawing his attention to the announcement made by prime minister through an address to the nation on the achievements of Indian scientists. Sitaram has written that the address is a violation of the model code of conduct. He has expressed his utmost displeasure and asked whether the election commission was informed of such an address.
