Union Budget Anti-People and Deceptive

VARIOUS mass and class organisations have denounced the union budget for 2018-19, placed in parliament by finance minister Arun Jaitley on February 1, as “anti-people, anti-worker and deceptive”. In the last full budget of the NDA government before the 2019 general elections, the finance minister resorted to lies and deceit through high rhetoric and overestimated projections.CITUThe Union Budget turned out to be a deceptive one, meticulously articulated to misguide and confuse the people.

THE CPI(M) Telangana state second conference was held in Nalgonda from February 4-7, 2018 in an enthusiastic atmosphere. SFI Condemns Assault on Kashmiri Students

THE central executive committee of SFI, in a statement issued on February 4, has condemned in the strongest possible words the assault of two Kashmiri students by a mob of people in Mahendargarh, Haryana. These students who belong to the minority community had gone to offer Friday prayers. While returning when they were crossing market area they were mercilessly beaten up with sticks, bricks and helmet. What is more shocking is that none of people there or the passersby came to their rescue. The police even refused to register an FIR in the case.

HYPERBOLES are the hallmark of the Modi government, especially empty hyperboles that are passed off as public policy. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley’s announcement during his budget speech, of the world’s “largest government funded health care programme”, outdid all previous records of the Modi government in making inflated claims. Quickly named ‘Modicare’ by the spin doctors of the BJP, the announcement was lapped up unquestioningly by sections of the corporate controlled media.

CPI(M) Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on February 7.THE statement by the defence minister in parliament with regard to the  agreement for the Rafale fighter planes is completely unacceptable.Ever since the deal was renegotiated there have been several reports that allege that the price being paid for the planes in question is much higher than what had been decided in the earlier agreement.The plea taken by the defence minister that the details of the inter-governmental agreement is “classified information” is untenable.

Her present shelter made of makeshift tin structure and twigs houses hens and ducks, along with her. Her husband died in Cyclone Hudhud in 2014. She had got Rs 5 lakh compensation, only on paper.

On Challenge in Supreme Court to Electoral Bonds

ON February 2, 2018 the Supreme Court of India has sought a response from Union of India and the Election Commission in the petition filed by the CPI(M) challenging the constitutionality of the introduction of electoral bonds by the Finance Act, 2017.The Finance Act, 2017 amended four different statues, namely the Reserve Bank of India Act 1934, The Representation of Peoples Act 1951, The Income Tax Act 1961 and the Companies Act, 2013 to introduce the concept of electoral bonds.
