IN a meeting held at Chennai on January 24, presided over by the DMK president, M K Stalin, all political parties in the Secular Progressive Front have unanimously decided to launch a signature campaign against CAA from February 2 to 8, 2020.
REPUBLIC Day on January 26th was commemorated through protest programmes in West Bengal. At the call of Left parties, allies and other secular forces sit-in was organised throughout the state. From the morning, hundreds of such roadside sit-in took place. The preamble of the constitution was read out in unison as oath. In districts, from a hundred to three hundred sit-ins took place. In some places it was organised at ward level, or village panchayat level. Thousands of people took part in these demonstrations. The sit in was addressed by leaders of the Left and other parties.
