ON September 2, 2014, on the eve of the completion of 100 days of the Narendra Modi government, a gang of around 15-20 hoodlums of the Sangh Parivar attacked the CPI(M) and CITU office at Narayan Peth in Pune city at around 2.30 pm in the afternoon. They broke the glasses of the office, damaged the furniture, tore up papers related to the ongoing struggle of unorganised workers, poured burnt oil and some kind of chemical all over the place and threatened the handful of Party activists who were in the office at the time.
THOUSANDS of activists belonging to the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and Communist Party of India observed a dawn-to-dusk hunger strike across Tamil Nadu on September 1, condemning anti-people policies of the state and central governments.This was a culmination of the statewide and weeklong propaganda and agitation programme in response of the call of the Left parties. THE Polit Bureau expresses deep concern at the havoc caused by heavy floods in Jammu and Kashmir. Several districts in Jammu and in the valley have been very badly affected by the incessant rain and the rising waters of the rivers to alarming levels. Many precious lives have been lost and property damaged and cattle killed. Thousands of people have been rendered homeless in both regions.
INVESTIGATIONS into the Saradha Chit Fund scam has exposed that a huge sum from the fraudulent business was spent to ensure the victory of Trinamool Congress in 2011 West Bengal assembly elections. According to media reports quoting investigation agency sources and depositions by some of the accused, at least Rs 130 crores was supplied to the TMC before the elections. It has been also reported that the TMC candidates received a part of this money for spending in the campaign.2011 assembly elections in the state was a desperate battle to oust the Left Front government.

THE reports of the CBI Director Ranjit Sinha meeting a number of persons who were being investigated by the agency at his residence, raises disturbing questions. Some persons were charge-sheeted by the agency and some have dubious antecedents. It is highly improper and irregular for the head of the premier investigating agency to be meeting such persons and that too at his residence.
THE CPI(M) on September 8, has called upon all its units to immediately collect money to provide relief to the people of Jammu & Kashmir affected by the massive floods in the state.
The floods have caused widespread havoc in the entire state. As per reports available, till now, around 150 people have been killed in the floods. Thousands have been marooned as entire villages in many places stand submerged. Even the capital of Srinagar has been affected with around 30 percent of its area being flooded. An estimated ten lakh people have been affected in Jammu division.
KOLKATA witnessed another historic rally of tens of thousands of people that roared against imperialist aggression. People mostly from Kolkata and its adjoining districts participated in the rally to mark their protest against the US aggression and to commemorate the Anti Imperialism Day on September 1. Braving heavy downpour, thousands of people marched almost seven kilometres from Ramlila Maidan near Maulali in central Kolkata to Deshbandhu Park near Shyambazar in the north.
