Joint Letter to PM on Covid

On May 12, a letter signed by leaders of 12 major opposition parties was released that was addressed to the prime minister on immediate steps to be taken by the government to deal with the Covid pandemic.We release the text of the letter:The Covid-19 pandemic in our country has assumed unprecedented dimensions of a human catastrophe.We have repeatedly in the past drawn your attention, independently and jointly, to the various measures that are absolutely imperative for the central government to undertake and implement.

Strongly Denounce Israeli Attacks on Palestinians

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on May 11, 2021:THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) denounces the Israeli attacks on Palestinians. The air raids carried out by Israel on the Gaza strip led to the death of many Palestinian citizens.Israel is moving towards the complete occupation of East Jerusalem by attacking Palestinians who were protesting its attempt to forcefully expel residents of the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood to make way for Jewish settlements.

Despicable Attack on Manik Sarkar, CPI(M) Leaders in Tripura

IN a reprehensible action, BJP goons attacked former chief minister Manik Sarkar and a group of CPI(M) leaders in Santirbazar in South Tripura on May 10, when they had gone to meet party workers and supporters who were targeted and whose houses and properties vandalised by hooligans of the ruling party a few days before. Besides Sarkar, the CPI(M) delegation included deputy leader of the opposition, Badal Chowdhury, MLA Sudhan Das, former MP Narayan Kar, and leaders of Santirbazar and Belonia sub-divisional committees of the party.

Mahavir Narwal : A life lived with Revolutionary Ideals in Practice.

SOME traumatic incidents do completely expose the extent of degradation in the existing times. The untimely and tragic passing away of Mahavir Narwal turned out to be ironically one of those incidents. Narwal passed away on May 9 due to Covid related complications. His demise at a time when his daughter was locked up in a prison cell on totally baseless and malafide charges has shaken all the democratic sections of our society.In the face of this extremely painful tragedy, our judiciary seems to have proved itself to be completely insensitive towards any human values.

Comrade Ranjana Nirula

CENTRE of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) expresses heartfelt grief at the demise of Comrade Ranjana Nirula, working committee member and former treasurer of CITU. She was the convenor of the All India Coordination Committee of ASHA workers (CITU). She passed away on May 10, 2021. She was infected with Covid 19 and was hospitalised on April 27,  2021. She was 75 years old.Ranjana Nirula was born in 1945 in Delhi in an affluent family.. Her father was a doctor in the UN.

Communist stalwart Com Gowri Amma passes away

VETERAN communist leader K R  Gouri Amma is no more. Firebrand Communist K R Gouri Amma (102) passed away at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram on May 11 morning due to age-related ailments.Gouri Amma has had an exciting and lengthy political career in Kerala as a student leader, trade unionist, kisan and women’s leader, and minister in successive Left-led governments. Her life was synonymous with the history of modern Kerala.

Nationwide online Public Meeting on Burning Issues

IN a new initiative, on the evening of May 8, 2021, the CITU, AIKS and AIAWU held a joint nationwide online public meeting on the burning current issues of the people of our country. The public meeting was widely propagated through posters in Hindi, English, and other national languages.
