Joint Protest Held in Delhi against The India-Japan Nuclear Deal

PROTESTS were organised against the India-Japan Nuclear Deal at various places across the country between December 11 to 13, during the Japanese Prime minister Shinzo Abe’s visit to India. The protests were co-ordinated by the Coalition for Nuclear Peace and Disarmament (CNDP). The deal with Japan is actually a missing piece in the massively destructive nuclear energy expansion that India has embarked upon after signing the disastrous Indo-US nuclear deal.

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on December 15.

THE CBI raid on the office of the chief minister of Delhi is highly condemnable and smacks of a politically motivated act. It is unprecedented that in the name of investigating the accusations against a bureaucrat, the office of the chief minister should be sealed and files searched, as alleged by the chief minister.

Tripura: Left Front Sweeps Urban Bodies Elections

The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) has issued the following statement on December 12, 2015.

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) hails the sweeping victory of the CPI(M) and the Left Front in the Tripura urban bodies elections.

The Left Front has won the Agartala Municipal Corporation getting 45 out of the 49 seats. It has won all the 13 municipalities and the 6 nagar panchayats. In many of them, the Left Front has won all the seats.

An Alignment in US Interests

IF there is any confirmation required that the Modi government is fully aligned with the United States’ strategy in Asia, it has come with the visit of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to India. During the visit, various agreements were signed which established close military and security ties with Japan. This is what the United States has wanted India to do as Japan and India are the two pillars in its Asia-Pacific strategy. It is under the urging of the United States that the trilateral security alliance was forged during Modi’s visit to Japan in September 2014.

Left Sweeps Municipal Polls in Tripura, Wins All 19 Local Bodies

THE Left Front swept the municipal elections in Tripura, winning all the 19 urban local bodies -- Agartala Municipal Corporation, 13 municipal councils and five nagar panchayats -- that went to poll on December 9. The Left Front has wrest control of Ambassa Municipal Council in northern Tripura and Sabroom Nagar panchayat in south that were won last time by the Congress.The results, announced on December 12, showed that the people living in urban areas have reposed their faith again in the Left Front.

Build a Strong All India Communist Party

THE CPI(M) is holding a Plenum on Organisation in Kolkata from December 27 to 31. The Plenum is meant to discuss the important question of how to strengthen the Party organisation to meet the rightwing offensive unfolding in the country. The Political-Tactical Line of the 21st Congress has called for fighting back the rightwing offensive represented by the forces of neo-liberalism, communalism and authoritarianism. The Party organisation has to be geared up to effectively fight these forces.
