Book VC for Student's Suicide

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on January 18.

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) expresses its deep anguish at the suicide of a dalit student, Vemula Rohit, in the Central University of Hyderabad.

The five dalit students were on indefinite hunger strike protesting against the newly-appointed vice chancellor’s decision to rusticate them from the hostels of the University.

On CPI(M)’s Electoral Tactics

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on January 17, 2016.

THERE is a lot of speculation over the tactics that the CPI(M) will employ in the forthcoming elections to the state assemblies. The CPI(M)’s electoral tactics will be in accordance with the political-tactical line adopted at its 21st Party Congress. The Polit Bureau and the Central Committee will take a decision at an appropriate time regarding electoral tactics in each of these states.

The adoption of the Republican Constitution on January 26, 1950 was a major achievement of the independent India. THE fourth edition of International Congress on Kerala Studies organised by AKG Padana Gaveshana Kendram (AKG Study and Research Centre) has been successfully held, culminating in the drawing up of a master plan to create a new Kerala. The two day conference held at seven venues in Thiruvananthapuram amidst the presence of a galaxy of leaders from Left and Democratic parties and experts in respective fields has given a hope to foresee the revival of Kerala model of development which changed the socio-economic status of the state.

National Seminar on Malnutrition, Govt Policies & ICDS

ON January 6, 2016, the All India Federation of Anganwadi Workers and Helpers (AIFAWH) completed 25 years. The occasion coincided with the eighth conference of AIFAWH. A national seminar on ‘Malnutrition, Government policies and ICDS was held at Sundarayya Vignana Kendram on January 6, 2016.Noted journalist ‘activist’ P Sainath demanded ‘food equality’ rather than food security on priority basis to be ensured in the country. In this regard, the anganwadi workers and helpers are doing work that is more important than any official in the country, he said.

Eighth Conference of AIFAWH Calls for Intensification of Struugles

The conference was held from January 7-10, 2016 at Parsa Satyanarayana Nagar (RTC Kalyana mandapam), Arati Dasgupta Hall, Dipali Giri Manch, Hyderabad, Telangana.

New Challenges Before Student Movement

THE student movement is going through very crucial times in India. It, at present, looks a little ineffective and less sharp as compared to student movements of other countries where they have achieved many important victories. In fact, Indian society has witnessed rapid changes in the past few decades. In the era of neo-liberal economic policies, social values have changed and the social structure is changing. Impact of the capitalist and open market values are deepening in our society. Being an integral part of the society, students are also deeply affected by these changes.
