Tripura: Left Front Sweeps TTAADC Village Committee Poll

DEFEATING the opportunistic and unholy alliance of all anti-Left political parties, the Left Front in Tripura maintained its dominance winning 520 of the 587 village committees of TTAADC. In terms of seats, Left Front won in 3,838 out of 4,597. Of these, CPI(M) won in 3,806 seats, while CPI, RSP and FB won in 12, 12 and 8 seats, respectively. Reconsider Decision on Life Saving Drugs

This gazette notification by the government has made these drugs more expensive. These drugs include anti-cancer, anti-AIDS and drugs for haemophilia patients.The government’s reasoning is that this would protect the domestic drug companies.

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on February 29, 2016.

IN the backdrop of global economic slowdown, the budget should have increased measures that enhance domestic demand. Instead it chose to continue with the same regressive policies that are contractionary. This would aggravate inequality, unemployment and further contract exports. It would lead to increasing distress in agriculture and the countryside, the collapse of industrial production, the slowdown in construction activities and many services.
