CPC 20th Congress: ‘Dare to Say What Has Never Been Said and Do What Has Never Been Done’

IMMEDIATELY after the conclusion of the 20th Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), on October 25, Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC led the first group study session of the Polit Bureau. This was to ‘study, understand and implement’ the guiding principles of the 20th Congress. The meeting emphasised that the tasks set forth by the 20th Congress ought to be implemented in all aspects of economic and social development, by being prepared to face all kinds of complex issues.The report presented to the 20th Congress gave great importance to theoretical development of Marxism.

Tripura: October Revolution Anniversary Observed

THE 105th anniversary of the October Revolution was observed all across the state in Tripura. A hall meeting at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala was held on November 8.In the morning, at all the Party and trade union offices, red flags were hoisted. Floral tributes were paid to Karl Marx, Fredrick Engels, Lenin and Stalin at many places. Party offices were decorated with red lights and flags. In the state committee office of CPI(M) in Agartala, red flag was hoisted by senior kisan leader and former Polit Bureau member of the Party, Hannan Mollah.

Give More Time for Opinions on Review of Personal Law: AIDWA

THE All India Democratic Women’s Association has sent a memorandum to Sushil Kumar Modi, MP and Chair, Parliamentary Standing Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law & Justice, on November 4, regarding the review of personal law which is sought to be undertaken by the committee. A press communiqué issued on behalf of the Standing Committee on October 11, 2022, asked for memoranda concerning the entire gamut of personal law within a short period of 21 days.

Not only did it get rid of one British prime minister, whom it distrusted, in the space of just 44 days, but even got a new one of its choice installed forthwith. Lula’s Victory in Brazil Is Also a Victory for the World

ON October 30, 2022, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (known as Lula) won the second-round of the presidential election in Brazil. The vote, in the end, was tight, with Lula prevailing with 50.9 per cent (60 million votes) over the incumbent president Jair Bolsonaro’s 49 per cent (58 million votes). Lula won decisively in the north and north-east of Brazil, areas that have large populations of Afro-Brazilian and indigenous voters, while Bolsonaro prevailed in the south.
