THE crisis that has gripped the Supreme Court in recent times has been further aggravated by the way in which the Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi and the Supreme Court have handled the accusation of sexual harassment leveled against the CJI himself in a written complaint made by a former Supreme Court employee, copies of which were given to all members of the Court. As a consequence, every effort should have been made to ensure complete transparency in the matter.

PRIME Minister Modi has been leading a frenetic election campaign, flying from one corner of the country to another, addressing public meetings. Imperial Fangs on Venezuela

THE fangs of US imperialism are bared once again. In a brazen attempt to dislodge the democratically elected president of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, US has extended its open support to Juan Guaido to carry out a coup. It has even called on the military to rebel against the Maduro government.

Modi’s Feet of Clay

NARENDRA Modi has been strutting around the country boasting about his muscularity. But he has feet of clay. In fact no previous prime minister in post-independence India has been as subservient to the US at the expense of the country’s interest, as Modi has been.Indira Gandhi, whatever her other faults, had stood up to the US, especially during the Bangladesh War when Nixon had contemplated using nuclear weapons against India. Such was her independence that Nixon himself had admitted later that he felt scared of Indira Gandhi and could not look her directly in the eye.

Marx and Science – II

MARX'S use of the term science clearly encompassed the social as well as the natural sciences, obvious from his use of terms such as the “science of political economy.” Marx nowhere spells out explicitly the differences between the meanings of the term science in the two domains, but his constant criticism of the classical political economists before him and his contemporaries, provide many pointers to what these are. Foremost among these is the class standpoint that is inherent in any study of society and therefore the content of the social sciences.
