TWO DAYS’ COUNTRYWIDE GENERAL STRIKE: Working Class Rises in a Tide against Modi Govt’s Policies

THE magnificent country wide general strike on January 8-9, 2019 reflected the tide of people’s anger against the anti-worker, anti-people and anti-national neoliberal policies pursued by the BJP led government at the centre. It surpassed in its sweep and depth, even the earlier two massive general strikes, on September 2, 2015 and 2016 held during this Modi government’ regime.

‘CONCENT’ – a Political Tool to Manufacture Consent for Anti-worker policies of the BJP Govt

‘CONCENT’, the so-called ‘Confederation of Central Trade Unions’, which is set to function from the BMS office, is nothing but a political instrument formed in a desperate attempt to manufacture consent to the anti-worker policies of the BJP led government at the centre.

It is yet another attempt to disrupt the unity of the working class and the joint trade union movement, which the BMS deserted and got isolated after BJP, the political wing of the RSS, to which the BMS is affiliated, came to power at the centre in 2014. 

CITU Extends Solidarity To The Indefinite Strike By Bsnl Employees And Officers From 3-12-2018

THE Centre of Indian Trade Unions, in a statement issued on November 28, has extended full support and solidarity to the programme of indefinite strike by all employees and officers from December 3, at the call of the All Unions and Associations of BSNL (AUAB) demanding allotment of 4G spectrum to BSNL, wage revision for all which has fallen long overdue, revision of pension from January 1, 2017 and other demands.

Lawyers March to ‘Save Constitution’

LAWYERS of Delhi took out a march from Supreme Court to Parliament Street on November 26, on the slogan "save constitution" under the banner of Lawyers for Democracy. Various lawyers' organisations representing dalits, minorities, human rights and civil liberties and the All India Lawyers Union came together to celebrate the Constitution Day in a unique manner by taking out a march. Issues like save democracy, save democratic institutions, save secularism, stope mob lynching, stop attacks on dalits, stop attacks on minorities, ensure women's rights etc were highlighted.

Mid-day Meal Workers Protest the Neglect of BJP Govt

MORE than fifteen thousand mid-day meal workers assembled at Parliament Street in New Delhi on November 19, 2018 at the call of mid-day meal workers’ federations affiliated to the central trade unions.  Workers from Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Manipur, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and West Bengal shouted anti BJP-NDA-Modi slogans and demanded immediate increase in their remuneration.

Demonetisation is a Failure, Govt Should Admit

THE Bank Employees Federation of India (BEFI), Tamil Nadu, has demanded that the government should openly accept that demonetisation is a failure and should compensate the families for loss of lives due to demonetisation.

The bank employees demanded that the government should compensate the banks and RBI for the expenses additionally incurred and create job opportunities to compensate the loss. It should also come out with a white paper on the ill effects of demonetisation and measures to rectify them.
