THE 10th all India conference of the Construction Workers Federation of India (CWFI) that concluded on February 13, 2023 asserted its united resolve to intensify struggles against neoliberal policies aggressively pursued by the Modi led BJP government at the centre. It called upon the working class in general and construction workers in particular to get ready to unleash more combative direct class actions to defeat the corporate-communal policy regime and make headway for a change in the policy regime.

Workers Rally: 2023 will be a Year of Struggles

The 12th conference of CITU was held in the city almost exactly fifteen years ago, on January 17-21, 2007.The venue of the conference, Gayathri Vihar, Palace Grounds in Bengaluru, is named Shymal Chakraborty Nagar, after the former national vice president of CITU and former president of its West Bengal state committee. THOUSANDS of anganwadi workers and helpers protested throughout the country on Children’s Day, November 14, 2022 demanding food, infrastructure and integrated child development.Due to continuous cuts in budget allocations and unprecedented price rise in the last couple of years, the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme has been severely affected. Food supply to anganwadi centres has been reduced by upto 30-40 per cent in many states including Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Bihar.

BSNLEU Scores Magnificent Victory in the Membership Verification

BSNL Employees Union has scored a magnificent victory in the election held in BSNL, for the granting of trade union recognition. This is the eighth consecutive victory being scored by BSNLEU. The election for granting recognition was held on October 12, 2022 and the result was declared on October 14, 2022. BSNLEU came first with 15,311 (48.62 per cent) votes. The union has increased its votes by 5.18 per cent. The National Federation of Telecom Employees (NFTE) came second with 11,201 (35.57 per cent) votes. The BMS affiliated BTEU came third with 1,635 (5.19 per cent) votes.
