DESPOTIC attacks on democratic rights and the right to protect individual lives and properties have been going on unabated in the BJP-ruled Tripura.* Leader of the Opposition Manik Sarkar, accompanied by party leaders, was prevented from a scheduled visit to Santirbazar on May 10.* A blood donation camp organised by Left youth at Khowai on May 12 was stopped.* Large scale ransacking and looting of at least 19 houses of CPI(M) leaders and workers at Badharghat under Agartala Municipal Corporation on May 29 and 30.* Even Jharna Das Baidya, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), was prevented by

New Committee Set-up to Delay Action on Minimum Wages: CITU

THE Centre for Indian Trade Unions (CITU) called out the government for dilly-dallying the process of fixation of minimum wages by constituting a new expert committee on wages, instead of acting upon the recommendations made by the old expert committee in 2019.The CITU, in a statement issued on June 4, has said that the purpose of constituting the new committee is to keep the much needed minimum wage revision hanging for the sake of  ‘ease of doing business’ rankings; and to provide berths to chosen persons in government committees for a long period of three years. The ministry of labour and

Work with Renewed Vigour along with Introspection

She went for training on April 14, where it was announced that cases will be filed against those who do not attend their election duties.

MP: Mishandling of the Covid Situation by Shivraj govt

IN a classic example of the ruling class policies betraying the working class, the government in Madhya Pradesh, which is reeling under the second wave of Covid, has been busy fudging data instead of helping citizens. The data related to Covid deaths is being manipulated by the Shivraj Singh-led government to brush truth under the carpet, at a time when citizens are suffering.  However, deaths cannot be hidden. The cries of the families that have lost a member - the widows, orphans, and people who have lost their children cannot be silenced.

Bihar: Murder attempt on CPI(M) Legislative Party Chief

THE state committee of CPI(M) has strongly condemned an attack on Ajay Kumar, leader of the legislature party in the state assembly.  A member of the state secretariat, he was attacked on May 29, around 10 pm at the CPI(M) district office in Samastipur. The Bibhutipur MLA was also attacked on May 2; he narrowly escaped. The attack on May 29 appears a part of the same conspiracy and is highly condemnable. Security guards who were with Ajay Kumar were badly injured.
