Telangana: AIAWU State Conference Begins with a Huge Public Meeting

THE third state conference of the All India Agricultural Workers’ Union was held from December 29-31, 2022 at Khammam. More than six hundred delegates from all corners of the Telangana state attended the conference.On December 29, a huge public meeting was organised at SR & BGNR College grounds, Khammam town. More than one lakh people attended the public meeting and made it a huge, huge success. This has been the largest gathering in this ground.Thirty thousand people in red shirts, and red sarees marched in the streets of Khammam and painted the whole town red.

Maharashtra Electricity Workers on Mahasangram against Adani Group

THE Maharashtra state government has been forced to bow down to the united will of the heroic striking electricity workers. Under immense pressure from all corners, the deputy chief minister and energy minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis has publicly promised to roll-back the proposed granting of parallel license for electricity distribution to Adani Group.

MP: ‘Unite the People to Protect the Country’

Addressing the Samaj Jagao, Bhaichara Banao, Samvidhan Bachao rally at the Chhatarpur Mela Ground on December 29, CPI(M) general secretary, Sitaram Yechury expressed anger over the poor condition of Bundelkhand even after 75 years of independence. He said that instead of working towards improvement, the present government is pushing the situation towards further deterioration. Discussing the national situation, he said that as a result of the erroneous and destructive economic policies of the Modi government, the country is heading towards an economic slowdown.

Maha: AIDWA Holds State Camp, March on Assembly

THE AIDWA in Maharashtra successfully organised a three-day state study camp from December 9-11, 2022 at Godutai Parulekar Bidi Housing Complex, Solapur. A total of 103 selected activists from 19 districts, namely Thane, Palghar, Solapur, Mumbai, Pune, Raigad, Sangli, Satara, Kolhapur, Wardha, Nagpur, Amravati, Chandrapur, Nashik, Jalna, Aurangabad, Nanded, Parbhani and Ahmednagar attended the camp.

Towards AIDWA’s National Conference: Struggle in Unity for Equality

THE 13th national conference of AIDWA is being held at Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala from January 6 to 9,  2023 with the slogan, ‘Struggle in Unity for Equality’. Nearly 850 delegates from 25 states and union territories, representing a total membership of 96, 31,116 will deliberate and plan for building a stronger women’s movement and organisation in India. This is the second time that an AIDWA national conference is being held in Kerala.

Tripura: anashiksha Divas Observed With Great Enthusiasm

ON December 27, 2022, the 78th Janashiksha Divas was observed throughout the state with great enthusiasm under the leadership of Tripura Rajya Upajati Gana Mukti Parishad (GMP, in short) and the CPI(M). Large number of tribal and non-tribal people participated in the observance programme at various places across the state. During this programme, Party flag was hoisted along with hoisting the GMP flag, followed by paying homage to the great leaders, who spearheaded the ‘people’s literacy movement’ in the state, in the 40s and 50s.

COAL mining in Chhattisgarh is a living example of how corporates are looting natural resources and flourishing under crony capitalism. Parsa Kete Mines are located in Hasdeo Aranya area on the border of Surguja-Korba district, which has been allotted to the government of Rajasthan through Rajasthan State Power Generation Corporation Limited. The Rajasthan government has handed over the coal mining work to Adani through an MDO.

AP: M Basavapunnaiah Memorial Lecture

ON the occasion of the 108th birth anniversary of Marxist theoretician and Party leader, Makineni Basavapunnaiah, the Makineni Basavapunnaiah Vignana Kendram organised a memorial lecture on the theme, “Central Government’s Attacks on State’s Rights”. MB Rajesh, minister for local self government and excise, government of Kerala, delivered the lecture on December 26.Speaking on the occasion, Rajesh said Makineni Basavapunnaiah, popularly called as MB, played a very important role in the formation of the Communist movement in India.
