AT the call of various Left youth and students' organisations, protests were conducted across the country against the recently announced Agnipath scheme and unemployment in the country. Unemployment in the country is rising day by day while the vacancies in different central government offices have remained vacant for many years. It is at this juncture that the central government announced the Agnipath scheme which shattered the dreams of millions of young people in the country who were undergoing training for years for joining the army.

Leaders of coffee farmers from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka along with the trade union leaders from the plantation sector and various experts from the Coffee Board of India, coffee industry and research institutions converged to discuss the challenges and possibilities in the coffee sector.   Vijoo Krishnan, joint secretary of AIKS inaugurated the meeting.
