Local Body Elections in Telangana

IN Telangana state local elections for Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituencies (MPTC) and Zila Parishad Territorial Constituencies (ZPTC) were held in three phases, from May 6 -14. Results were announced on June 4. Out of a total 5,817 MPTCs, TRS gained 3545, Congress 1,392, BJP 210, CPI(M) 50, CPI 40, TDP 22 and others 562. The president posts of MPP were overwhelmingly cornered by the party in power i.e.,  TRS. Out of total posts TRS gained 79 per cent, Congress 11 per cent, BJP 1.49 per cent.

KARNATAKA: IT Firms Violate Laws as State Plays the Blind Umpire: KITU

THE Karnataka State IT and IT-enabled Services Union (KITU) protested against the state government for alleged inaction against the information technology firms for prolonged violation of labour laws.The KITU highlighted the fact that the four norms mentioned in the Industrial Employment Standing Orders Act 1946, to set up or run an IT or ITeS firm, are being violated by many companies in the state. According to the government orders, every workplace should constitute an internal committee as per the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, 2013.

JAMMU AND KASHMIR: CPI(M) Welcomes Kathua Case Verdict

CPI(M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami on June 10, welcomed the verdict by the Pathankot court which convicted six out of seven accused in connection with the Kathua gang-rape and murder case of an eight-year-old nomadic girl.The gruesome gangrape and murder is a crime committed by the enemies of humanity. Crime is a crime irrespective of criminal’s caste, colour and creed.

West Bengal: CPI(M) Protests its Activists Murder

POST poll bloodbath continues in West Bengal as TMC and BJP gangs are fiercely trying to gain control over areas after changed equations in many districts. In this background CPI(M) activists and sympathisers are being targeted by both parties.On June 5, in Mathurapur town in West Bengal, a group of TMC goons entered the house of Raju Halder and hewed him to death. The attack was barbaric and his body parts were chopped off. His father Abdul Kahar Halder and four women of his family were also injured when they tried to stop the goons.

Telangana: CITU Golden Jubilee Celebrations Begin

THE golden jubilee celebrations of CITU, began in Sundarayya  Vignana  Kendram  on May 30. Chukka Ramulu, the Telangana state president of CITU, presided over the meeting. In this context B V Raghavulu, former secretary of CITU of the combined state said that the building of socialism is possible only by working class and the present defeats are only temporary. He was speaking on the topic “world economic crisis and contemporary socialism”.B V Raghavulu said that the capitalist system is always plagued by crisis and is going to decay and die and socialism will ultimately triumph.

Uttar Pradesh: Action Demanded against the Perpetrators of Rape and Murder

ON May 27, a DSMM delegation visited Jatnagla village in Muzaffarnagar, UP; the site of alleged gang rape and murder of a dalit girl. The victim was 14 year old and daughter of a brick kiln worker. The delegation comprised of Ajay Kumar-convenor DSMM, Surender Kumar-district joint secretary of CITU, Subhash Kumar-leader of Brick Kiln Workers Union and Suresh Kumar.The delegation was apprised by the brick kiln workers that the incident took place on the intervening night of May 24.

Tripura Health Minister Sacked

IN an interesting turn of events, Sudip Ray Barman, minister for health, DWS, science and technology and information technology was dropped from the state cabinet in the night of May 31st. Ray Barman, a former PCC president and erstwhile leader of opposition in the state assembly, had left the Congress party with five other Congress MLAs before the assembly elections, first to join the TMC and then the BJP.After the victory of the BJP and the IPFT coalition in the 2018 assembly elections, it was primarily assumed that Ray Barman, a veteran in legislative politics could be made the new chief
