Work with Renewed Vigour along with Introspection

CPI(M) West Bengal state committee has called upon Party workers to organise movements on burning issues of peoples’ livelihood with renewed vigour. After a big setback in assembly elections, Party is going through deep introspection. But at the same time it is urgent to stand beside the people at this critical time.In the state committee meeting on May 29, primary review of the election results was done. It was stated that the Left and the Sanjukta Morcha faced a disaster. In 2016, Left Front won 32 seats, of which BJP has won nine seats in this election, while the TMC won 23 seats.

UP: Panchayat polls: Death of 1,621 Teachers due to Covid

FORCED to be on duty during the Panchayat polls in Uttar Pradesh, Kalyani, a teacher who was eight months pregnant, was killed by an arrogant administration that overlooked her pleas for a leave. Kalyani, a 27year-old woman from Jaunpur, was called for election duty on April 9 even though she was pregnant. Her husband Deepak submitted a leave application for her which was not accepted. She went for training on April 14, where it was announced that cases will be filed against those who do not attend their election duties.

MP: Mishandling of the Covid Situation by Shivraj govt

IN a classic example of the ruling class policies betraying the working class, the government in Madhya Pradesh, which is reeling under the second wave of Covid, has been busy fudging data instead of helping citizens. The data related to Covid deaths is being manipulated by the Shivraj Singh-led government to brush truth under the carpet, at a time when citizens are suffering.  However, deaths cannot be hidden. The cries of the families that have lost a member - the widows, orphans, and people who have lost their children cannot be silenced.

Bihar: Murder attempt on CPI(M) Legislative Party Chief

THE state committee of CPI(M) has strongly condemned an attack on Ajay Kumar, leader of the legislature party in the state assembly.  A member of the state secretariat, he was attacked on May 29, around 10 pm at the CPI(M) district office in Samastipur. The Bibhutipur MLA was also attacked on May 2; he narrowly escaped. The attack on May 29 appears a part of the same conspiracy and is highly condemnable. Security guards who were with Ajay Kumar were badly injured.

AP: Pinarayi Vijayan delivers P Sundarayya Memorial Lecture

Delivering a lecture on ‘Covid-19 Crisis and the Role of Governments’ on the eve of the 36th death anniversary of Comrade Puchalapalli Sundarayya, the first general secretary of CPI(M) on May 19, Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan said it is the responsibility of the governments to protect the lives and livelihoods of the people and that it is their fundamental duty in a democracy.

IT has become a routine to slap sedition charges against those questioning the government, Bennet University professor Madabhashi Sridhar rued and asserted that questioning those in power and highlighting the shortcomings in governance is the right of the people. If a sedition case is proved as false in court, why counter case should not be filed against those who have filed such affidavits. No compensation is being paid when such sedition cases are proved false in courts, and in this context all rules, acts, parliaments and government become irrelevant.

Haryana: Scrap the Purchase deal with Patanjali: CPI(M)

IN a statement issued by the state secretariat of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) on May 25, strongly objected to the decision of the Haryana government to purchase one lakh medical kits of the Patanjali company. The BJP-JJP government of the state is misusing the state exchequer. The kits being purchased for crores of rupees in the name of Corona patients is disputed and has no sanction at all as a medicine, the statement lamented.  All this is being done for providing commercial benefits to the Patanjali company.

More Congratulations for CPI(M) Victory in Kerala

THE Communist Party of Russian Federation (CPRF) congratulated the Communist Party of India (Marxist) for its historic victory in Kerala. In its congratulatory message it stated that the victory of the CPI(M) led LDF in Kerala is confirmation of its growing support from the people of Kerala. Because of the consistent policies of the CPI(M), it is an important political force to resolve the social problems of the country and Kerala in particular, it stated.
