Some Glimpses of Woman Power in the Farmers’ Movement

ALL the more than 20 toll plazas of Haryana have been ‘liberated’ by the powerful farmers’ movement.  Everyday, hundreds of women and men from the neighbouring villages collect at different plazas from 10 in the morning till 3 in the afternoon.  The AIKS, DYFI and SFI have played an important role in organising the dharnas and it is the AIDWA state unit that has held hundreds of meetings in villages to mobilise women to join the dharnas.

Protests against Advisory on MGNREGA

ON July 26, 2021 protests were organised and memoranda were sent to the president of India through local administrations against the advisory of the union ministry of rural development asking all states and union territories for the division of wage payments under the MGNREGA into different caste categories – Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and others.

Warm Reception for Pinarayi Vijayan

The CPI(M) Delhi state committee organised a reception for Pinarayi Vijayan, chief minister of the LDF government in Kerala upon his coming to Delhi after getting re-elected. The representatives from the CPI(M) Delhi state committee and mass organisations like CITU, JMS, DYFI, SFI, DSMM, Jansanskriti and AIDWA (centre) participated in the programme. Five persons from families affected by the communal violence in North-East Delhi also greeted Pinarayi Vijayan.

Protest Demonstration against Proposed Electricity Bill

NCCOEEE, the broad based platform of all National Federations of Electricity Employees and Engineers held a strong protest demonstration on July 19, 2021 in different parts of the country.These protests were held for two hours against the steps of the central government to transfer the state owned power utilities to private corporations through the enactment of the Electricity (Amendment) Bill, 2021.

Farmers All Set for Protests near Parliament

THE Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) is all set to go ahead with its plans for parliament protests on all working days of the monsoon session from July 22 to August 13. Kisan sansads will be organised at Jantar Mantar by 200 protestors each day. The nine-member coordination committee of SKM held a meeting with senior officials of Delhi Police. The plans will be executed in an orderly, disciplined and peaceful manner. The protestors will leave from Singhu Border each day, with ID cards.
