AP: Pinarayi Vijayan delivers P Sundarayya Memorial Lecture

Delivering a lecture on ‘Covid-19 Crisis and the Role of Governments’ on the eve of the 36th death anniversary of Comrade Puchalapalli Sundarayya, the first general secretary of CPI(M) on May 19, Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan said it is the responsibility of the governments to protect the lives and livelihoods of the people and that it is their fundamental duty in a democracy.

IT has become a routine to slap sedition charges against those questioning the government, Bennet University professor Madabhashi Sridhar rued and asserted that questioning those in power and highlighting the shortcomings in governance is the right of the people. If a sedition case is proved as false in court, why counter case should not be filed against those who have filed such affidavits. No compensation is being paid when such sedition cases are proved false in courts, and in this context all rules, acts, parliaments and government become irrelevant.

Haryana: Scrap the Purchase deal with Patanjali: CPI(M)

IN a statement issued by the state secretariat of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) on May 25, strongly objected to the decision of the Haryana government to purchase one lakh medical kits of the Patanjali company. The BJP-JJP government of the state is misusing the state exchequer. The kits being purchased for crores of rupees in the name of Corona patients is disputed and has no sanction at all as a medicine, the statement lamented.  All this is being done for providing commercial benefits to the Patanjali company.

More Congratulations for CPI(M) Victory in Kerala

THE Communist Party of Russian Federation (CPRF) congratulated the Communist Party of India (Marxist) for its historic victory in Kerala. In its congratulatory message it stated that the victory of the CPI(M) led LDF in Kerala is confirmation of its growing support from the people of Kerala. Because of the consistent policies of the CPI(M), it is an important political force to resolve the social problems of the country and Kerala in particular, it stated.

SKM Gives Call for ‘Black Day’ on May 26

THE Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) at its general body meeting held at the Singhu border on May 14, gave a call to observe May 26, 2021 as ‘Black Day’ all over the country. May 26 marks the completion of six months of the historic farmers’ struggle. Lakhs of farmers, both men and women, have been constantly camping on the five borders around the national capital Delhi in cold, rain and heat, and have braved repression and defamation for six months. May 26 also marks six months of the massive All India strike by the working class.
