Interest On Small Savings Must Not Be Reduced

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on April 1, 2021.

THE finance minister’s retraction of the announcement made by the government yesterday of drastically  reducing interest rates on small saving schemes does not fool anybody.  It is clear that due to the ongoing assembly elections in five states this decision has been kept on hold.  This is similar to the dictate imposed by the government on oil retailers  to not hike the prices of petroleum products till the elections are over.

1991 Places of Worship Act Should Remain

CPI(M) Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on March 13

IT is unfortunate that the Supreme Court has opened the way for a re-examination of the Places of Worship (Special Provision) Act, 1991. The Act mandates that the character of all religious places of worship should be maintained as it was on August 15, 1947, and no suit or proceedings shall lie in a court of law with respect to the character of places of worship.

Condemn ED Action in Kerala

CPI(M) Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on March 5

THE Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) action of registering a case against the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) is a blatant misuse of the agency as a political tool by the BJP government at the centre.

The finance minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, while addressing a BJP election meeting in Kerala made unfounded allegations against the KIIFB and the LDF government.  Following this, the ED has taken this totally unwarranted action.

Stop this Persecution

CPI(M) Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on February 15

THE arrest of Disha Ravi, a climate activist from Bengaluru, by the Delhi police is an atrocious action which deserves to be condemned in the strongest terms.

The 22 year-old activist has been charged with sedition and criminal conspiracy on the absurd grounds that she had forwarded a “tool-kit” in support of the farmers’ struggle.

Drop the Cases against Bhima Koregaon Accused

CPI(M) Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on February 11

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) demands the dropping of cases against activists arrested in the Bhima Koregaon case and asks the Maharashtra government to set up an SIT to enquire into the developments exposed by the credible reports of international experts as to how evidence was manufactured and planted in the computer of one of the activists, Rona Wilson.
