THE historic contribution to the cause of women’s emancipation by Friedrich Engels, co-founder along with Marx, of the theory and practice of scientific socialism, has not dimmed with the passage of time.

THE All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC), a platform of nearly 250 peasant and agriculture worker organisations, and the joint platform of central trade unions, sectoral federations and associations have joined hands to give a clarion call against the continuous onslaught on the workers and the peasantry by the union government led by the BJP. The call is for a general strike and grameen harthal with village/block level chakka jaam on November 26 and joint demonstrations on November 27 at state/district/block centres.

Tonnes of crores of coal are reserved in the mines of the states like Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Assam, Chattishgarh, Madhya Pradesh. Fifteen lakh crore tonnes of coals are lifted daily from the mines in our country. The nationalised Coal India Limited (CIL) has been engaged for lifting coals from the mines, distributes and export as a key agency under this type of nationalised supervision for long decades soon after our independence, the coal sector has become a large profit-making sector in India.

COMRADE K Thangavel, an outstanding leader of the communist movement from the Kongu region of Tamil Nadu which includes the districts of Coimbatore, Tiruppur and Erode as well as the Nilgiris, passed away on September 13, 2020 in Coimbatore. He was aged 68 years.
