Convention of Left Parties Calls for Sustained Struggle on People’s Issues

FOUR Left parties of Punjab -- CPI(M), CPI, CPM Punjab and CPI-ML (Liberation) -- organised a state-level convention at Desh Bhagat Yaadgar Hall in Jalandhar on November 6. More than 3,000 workers, peasants and other sections of the working people participated in the convention, presided over by Bhupinder Samber, Gurchetan Singh Basi, Harkanwal Singh and Gurnam Singh Bhikhi. The convention decided and declared that a sustained and phased mass struggle will be launched for settlement of the 15-points charter of demands.

PUNJAB: Left Parties Hold Dharnas on Peasants & Agricultural Labourers’ Issues

THE Co-ordination Committee of four Left parties CPI, CPI(M), CPM Punjab & CPI(ML-Liberation) organised massive dharnas and rallies in support of the demands of the peasants and agricultural workers at district headquarters all over Punjab on October 12, 2015. The peasantry in Punjab has been struggling for the last few days demanding immediate compensation to the peasants whose cotton crops have been damaged by white fly, procuring of Basmati 1509 by government agencies at minimum support price and payment of arrears of sugar cane growers.

PUNJAB: Left Parties to Hold Peace March on Nov 6

A MEETING of the four Left Parties - CPI, CPI(M), CPM Punjab and CPI(M-L)  Liberation held on October 20 at Chandigarh to discuss the current situation in Punjab concluded that the desecration of Guru Granth Sahib is the handiwork of agencies who want to disturb peace in Punjab.  They blamed the Akali-BJP government  for the fast deteriorating situation in Punjab  and held it responsible for the inept manner in which it was handled.

PUNJAB: Left Parties to Hold State-wide Dharna on Oct 12

Thousands of CPI(M) workers will participate in the dharnas  in support of the demands of peasants and workers  on October 12, 2015.THE CPI(M) Punjab State Committee has called for maximum participation of people in the dharnas to be held at all district headquarters in Punjab on October 12, 2015, in support of burning problems of peasants and agricultural workers.This was one of the key decisions taken at a meeting of the state committee held at Chandigarh on October 7, 2015.

BJP Trying Hard to Divide People on Caste & Communal Lines in Bihar: Yechury

ON the occasion of 7th death anniversary of Harkishan Singh Surjeet, a programme was organised at Bundala Manjhki in Punjab's Jalandhar on September 21. The gathering was addressed by CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury among others. At the meeting, Yechury expressed fear that the BJP under Prime minister Narendra Modi might use fundamentalist and divisive tactics in the forthcoming Bihar assembly elections to garner Hindu votes.

PUNJAB: Left Parties Organise Convention in Barnala

FOUR Left Parties – CPI, CPI(M), CPM (Punjab) and CPI(ML)-Liberation – organised a big convention at Barnala in Malwa Region of Punjab on August 10, 2015 to seek suggestions for deciding the future form of struggle on the 15 points charter of demands. State secretaries of these parties while addressing the convention have strongly condemned the callous and adamant attitude of the Punjab chief minister towards the genuine and just demands of the working people of the state.

Historic Joint Rally of Left Parties in Punjab

FOUR Left parties – CPI, CPI(M), CPM Punjab and CPI(ML) Liberation – held a massive Chetawani Rally in Ludhiana on November 28 and warned the Akali Dal-BJP government in Punjab to accept the demand charter containing burning problems and just demands of the people or be ready to face intensive and consistent mass struggles including satyagraha. The historical rally demanded scrapping of the draconian black law – the Prevention of Damage to Public and Private Property Bill 2014 -- passed by the Punjab assembly recently.

Left Parties Intensify Struggle against Akali-BJP Govt in Punjab

FOUR Left parties have intensified their struggle against the callous and adamant attitude of the Akali Dal-BJP coalition government in Punjab towards the just demands of the people of the state like withdrawal of property tax levied in urban areas and the Black Act (Punjab Prevention of Damage to Public and Private Property Act, 2014).
