Women Fight Price Rise

THOUSANDS of women all over the country responded to the call by the All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) and came out on the roads on November 16, 2021, in protest against the uncontrolled price hikes, and condemned the failure of the BJP-RSS regime in providing relief to crores of the poor.

Withdraw FIRs against Journalists: AIDWA

THE All India Democratic Women Association (AIDWA), in a statement issued on November 16, expressed solidarity with journalists Samriddhi K Sakunia and Swarna Jha. They were first detained in Assam and then taken to Tripura and arrested. Both the women journalists had gone to cover communal violence in the Tripura. It has been reported in the media that they were detained for their social media posts about the communal violence. Two FIRs have been filed against them. The journalists have now been released on bail.

DELHI: Take Urgent Action into Suspected Rape & Murder of Dalit Child

ON August 4, CPI(M) Polit Bureau member, Brinda Karat has written to Amit Shah, minister for home affairs, government of India, requesting urgent action into the suspected rape and murder of a nine year old dalit child in the Purana Nangal gaon, in the Delhi Cantonment area of the Capital.The incident occurred at around 5-5.30 pm on Sunday, August 1, 2021. Brinda Karat along with CPI(M) state secretariat members Nathu Parshad and Asha Sharma and others met the mother of the child on August 4. They also met many residents of the colony.

AIDWA memo on RBI document on microfinance

ALL India Democratic Women’s Association, on July 28, released a memorandum on the consultative document on regulation of microfinance, pointing out that women, who make majority of microfinance seekers, are unable to get loans at low interest rates, and collateral free loans.AIDWA said it has been repeatedly raising women’s concern that they are not able to access low interest and collateral free loans from public sector banks.

THE All India Democratic Women's Association (AIDWA) has condemned the post-election violence that has reached terrifying proportions in West Bengal since the state assembly election results were declared on the evening of May 2. It said that 12 people have already been killed in the state, whatever may have been their political colour.AIDWA condemned the outbreak of unbridled terror destroying lives and property and turning into a threat against democracy and harmony among the people of this state.

AIDWA Deplores Acquittal of POCSO Accused

THE All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA), in a statement issued on January 27, has denounced the judgement of the Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court which has acquitted an accused of the charge of sexual assault of a 12-year old girl under Section 7 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) by saying that since there was no skin-to-skin contact with sexual intent, no case was made out.
