Protest Price Hike

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on March 1, 2015THE prices of petrol and diesel have been increased by over Rs 3 a litre, hours after the union budget imposing greater burdens on the people was presented. This is the second hike in the prices of petrol and diesel this month.The union government instead of reducing the excise duty is passing the burdens on to the people.This increase in prices of petrol and diesel is unacceptable.

Govind Pansare Killing Condemned

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on February 21

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) expresses its deep grief at the death of Comrade Govind Pansare, CPI leader and prominent Marxist intellectual. Com Pansare was shot in a dastardly manner along with his wife Uma, by two assassins on February 16 in Kolhapur.

The killing of Com Pansare followed the same modus operandi as that of Dr Narendra Dabholkar in August 2013 in Pune. Extremist communal elements are suspected to be behind both these murders.

On the 2015-16 Railway Budget

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on February 26, 2015THE Rail Budget for the year 2015-16 was high on hyperbole but low on content.  In fact, it has spelt out certain intentions with scarce factual details to translate these ideas into reality.  During the first three years of the 12th Five Year Plan, the railways received only Rs 1.5 lakh crores for investment.

CPI(M) Opposes Shantakumar Committee Report

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on  January 23.THE Shanta Kumar Committee report, which was self-confessedly prepared under the guidance of the PMO, is a blueprint to destroy India’s public distribution, procurement and storage systems and to hand it over to market forces. The CPI(M) strongly opposes these recommendations which will eliminate whatever little has been achieved in addressing the continuing problem of undernourishment and malnutrition among India’s population.

Obama Visit: No Surrender to US Pressures

The Polit Bureau of Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on  January 24.THE Obama visit is being preceded by various moves to appease US interests by the Modi government. Firstly, the Modi government is negotiating with the US authorities to find ways to circumvent the Civil Nuclear Liability Act passed by the Indian parliament.  The right to recourse for suppliers liability has been objected to by the United States.  The BJP had supported this law in parliament.

Obama Visit: India, USA’s Subordinate Ally

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on January 27, 2015.THE outcome of the visit of President Obama has resulted in the Modi government surrendering on some of the vital interests of the country both, strategic and economic, to US pressures.The "agreement" on the nuclear liability issue sharply indicates this surrender. The Civil Nuclear Liability Act passed by Indian parliament in 2010 was meant to protect the right to Indian citizens to due compensation and relief in the event of a nuclear accident.
