On Transport Strike

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on April 30, 2015.

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) congratulates the road transport workers and employees for their successful and massive all India strike. Workers belonging to the public transport, private buses, autorickshaws, taxis and trucks numbering two crore workers participated in the strike.

Successful Strike in West Bengal

THE Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) congratulates the people of West Bengal for the successful general strike and hartal they observed today in the state.

Despite large scale arrests, threats, intimidations and the unleashing of unprecedented violence by the state police and the ruling Trinamool Congress, the hartal evoked a spontaneous response from all walks of people in the state.

Protest Fuel Price Hike

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on May 1, 2015.

THE Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) strongly condemns the massive hike in the prices of petrol and diesel announced by the Modi government.

This will lead to the cascading of the inflationary spiral imposing unprecedented burdens on the working people, once again in a big way.

The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) calls upon the people to protest against this latest imposition of burdens on their livelihood.

Quake Devastation in Nepal

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on April 25. THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) expresses its deep sorrow at the devastating impact of the earthquake in Nepal. It extends its condolences to the families of the hundreds who were reportedly killed in the earthquake. The people of India stand in solidarity with the Nepalese people in this time of calamity. The CPI(M) calls upon the central government to immediately provide all necessary assistance to Nepal. Many parts of India have also been affected by the quake.

Collect Funds for Nepal Relief

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on April 27.THE Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has given a call to all Party units to collect funds to provide relief to the people of Nepal who have suffered from the devastating earthquake which has led to thousands of deaths and massive damage to homes, property and infrastructure.As an immediate response, the Polit Bureau has decided to donate Rs 10 lakh for the relief and rehabilitation work. 

Blatant Attack on Democracy in West Bengal

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on April 26.THE elections to 91 municipalities including two corporations in West Bengal held on April 25, 2015 constitute a total mockery of democracy. In these and the election to the Kolkata Municipal Corporation a week earlier, there was a high degree of people’s enthusiasm and a large number of women turned out to cast their vote.

Betrayal of Adivasi India

THE Mining and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill 2015 has been passed by both houses of parliament after a motion to resend it to the select committee moved by P Rajeeve of the CPI(M) was defeated in the Rajya Sabha. The Bill was adopted in the Rajya Sabha by 117 votes to 69. The government got the Bill through with the support of parties like the Trinamool Congress, the Samajwadi party, the BSP and the BJD.
