Implement One Rank One Pension Immediately

IN a letter written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 17, Brinda Karat, Polit Bureau member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) who had visited the dharna of defence service pensioners at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi on the same day, said that it is sad that defence personnel who have served the nation were being forced to sit on an indefinite hunger strike. It is a shame on the country that such a situation has developed which makes a mockery of the concept of Jai Jawan.

Sitaram Yechury, CPI(M) general secretary and Sudhakar Reddy, CPI general secretary, have issued the following statement on August 18.THE BJP and the prime minister have threatened to go to all the Left constituencies protesting against the Left parties role in the so-called “disruption” of the parliament, particularly the Rajya Sabha. The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on August 12, 2015.THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) condemns the arrest of P Madhu, secretary of the Andhra Pradesh state committee of the Party and Central Committee member. Madhu was arrested at the Amudalavalasa railway station, in Srikakulam district in the early morning of August 12. The police have arrested him to prevent him from visiting the area where forcible land acquisition is taking place for the Polaki Power Plant.

Twin Train Accidents

DYFI Expresses Solidarity with Nepal

A DELEGATION of the central executive committee of the Democratic Youth Federation of India visited Nepal on July 18 under the leadership of Avoy Mukherjee, general secretary and handed a cheque equaling to ten lakh of Nepali rupees to Nepal Youth Federation, earthquake relief fund collected from across India by its activists.

The delegation visited many sites of destruction and shelter camps.

Dinanagar Attack Condemned

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on July 28.

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly condemns the terrorist attack in Dinanagar, Punjab in which seven people were killed including a senior police official. This attack by a three-member squad, reportedly, coming from across the border in Pakistan is a matter of serious concern.

THE Mumbai blasts of 1993 was a heinous terrorist attack killing 257 innocent people and causing injuries to scores of others. It is imperative that the criminals responsible should be brought to book and punished. There is ample evidence that the main culprits have escaped the law with the help of agencies across the border. Every effort has to be made from all fora available to bring them back to India to stand trial and consequent punishment under law.
