Nitish Govt’s Report Card: Claims & Reality

THE Bihar government led by Nitish Kumar has brought out a report card on its performance after the completion of one year in office in November. It boasts of implementation of 35 per cent reservation for women in all state government jobs, enforcement of total prohibition, beginning of work on the Kachi Dargah-Bidupur six-lane bridge on the Ganges and conducting free and fair matriculation examinations.

BIHAR: Organisational Plenum of CPI(M) Held at Darbhanga

THE state organisational plenum of CPI(M) Bihar state committee was held at Darbhanga from October 22-24. It concluded with a resolve to build a strong organisation by launching mass and class struggles.

A mass rally was organised at Polo Maidan on the occasion of the plenum which was addressed amongst others by Polit Bureau members Prakash Karat and Hannan Mollah, and Vijay Kant Thakur, Central Committee member, and state secretary Awadhesh Kumar.

Bihar Floods: Provide Immediate Relief

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on August 26.
 
THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) expresses its concern at the devastation caused by the severe flooding of the river Ganga in the state of Bihar. The PB expresses grief at the immense loss of lives and property. As of now 135 people have been killed and 35 lakh affected in 12 districts in the state.

AFTER the assumption of power by the BJP alliance at the centre and Mahagathbandhan alliance comprising of JD(U), RJD, Congress in Bihar, the feudal and the rich classes feel emboldened. They have become more aggressive towards the poor people. Attacks have grown manifold against the weaker sections like dalits, mahadalits, extremely backward classes, minorities and women.
