'CM Status to Chandrababu, but no Special Status to AP' says Raghavulu

OWING to the division of state, Chandrababu Naidu has got the chief ministerial status, but the state of Andhra Pradesh had not yet got the special status, remarked BV Raghavulu, Polit Bureau member of the CPI(M), satirically while addressing a public meeting in Bhimavaram on the occasion of the CPI(M) state committee meeting held from June 7-9, 2016.Prior to the commencement of  the meeting, a huge rally was taken out in the thoroughfares of Bhimavaram Town in which hundreds of Party cadre participated. The town was painted red with posters and flags, and with the dresses of the cadre.

THE Left parties are the real alternative before our country and various demands of the people have to be realised through struggles, CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury said at the culmination of a ‘Bus Yatra’, by Left parties demanding development of Rayalaseema districts, at Kurnool on March 5.The ‘bus yatra’ started in Chittoor on February 20 and traversed through Kadapa and Anantapur before ending with a public rally in Kurnool on March 5.

ANDHRA PRADESH: Movement against Indiscriminate Land Acquisition & Land Pooling

A PROTEST march "Chalo Vijayawada" was organised against indiscriminate land acquisition and land pooling by Chandrababu Naidu government in Andhra Pradesh. Thousands of activists from AP Rythu Sangham (affiliated to All India Kisan Sabha), Vyavasaya Karmika Sangham (affiliated to AIAWU), AIKS, BKMU, AIKMS and other organisations under the banner of Bhoo Hakkula Parirakshana Porata Samiti participated in the march. The movement had started with two bus jathas from Anantapur and Srikakulam districts till AP Capital Region. This massive protest was the culmination of this stage of struggle.

AP: Bus Yatra by Left Parties Seeking Development Of Rayalaseema Districts

Anganwadi Workers Score Decisive Victory over Unwilling Govt

ANGANWADI Workers scored an emphatic victory over an unwilling Chandrababu Naidu government as the GO effecting hike in honorarium for them was issued on February 6, 2016.The honorarium of Anganwadi workers has been enhanced from the existing Rs 4,200 a month to Rs 7,000, while that of Anganwadi helpers from Rs 2,200 to Rs 4,500 and it will be implemented from April 1, 2016.The hike may be modest but it has come only after bitter and protracted struggles as the government has been adamant on the genuine demands of the workers.

Huge Rally Demands Closure of Liquor Shops in AP

A huge rally was held in Vijayawada, the capital of Andhra Pradesh, on January 8 by a broad united front formed to oppose the state’s liquor policy. The rally was followed by a seminar on the issue. The rally began at Hanumanta Rao Library and marched through several major thoroughfares of the city before culminating at Lenin Centre. The rally demanded withdrawal of the state government’s liquor policy, compensation for the kin of those died at an early age for liquor consumption and restricting the sale of liquor.
