Kerala: Brutal Murder of CPI(M) Activist

IN yet another brutal attack, a CPI(M) activist from New Mahe near Thalassery in Kannur district was hacked to death by RSS goons. 54-year old Haridas, a fisherman from Punnol was attacked in the early morning on February 21, when he was on his way back home after work. His left leg was chopped off from his body by these goons and it was abandoned a few metres away from the site of attack. The gang waited near his home to attack him. Though the local people rushed Haridas to the Thalassery Co-operative Hospital, he succumbed to the injuries on the way.
According to the inquest report, more than 20 deep wounds were found in his body.
Haridas is son of late Falgunan and he is survived by mother Chitrangi, wife Mini and two children Chinnu and Nandana.
The body has been moved to Pariyaram Medical College. The slaying was carried out with the knowledge of RSS leadership, said CPI(M) Kannur district secretary M V Jayarajan and demanded that all those guilty of this pre-meditated murder should be dealt with stringently.
AIFFWF Condemns Brutal Murder of Com Haridasan
THE All India Fishers and Fisheries Workers’ Federation (AIFFWF), in a statement issued on February 23, has strongly condemned the brutal attack and murder of its activist, Comrade Haridasan by BJP-RSS goons. Haridasan was a fisherman. He was 54 years old. He was waylaid and attacked by a gang of murderers when he was returning home after work. He was murdered in front of his house at Punnol near New Mahe in Thalassery at around 2 am in the morning. He was rushed to a hospital in Thalassery by neighbours, but died on the way. The body was shifted to Pariyaram Medical College Hospital.
Comrade Haridasan was a CITU activist. He was an active member of the Matsyatozhilali Federation in Kerala. On February 22, the Matsyatozhilali Federation organised protest rallies in all fishermen villages in Kerala.
The AIFFWF offers its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. It demands stringent punishment to all the assailants.
