Protest Demonstration against Proposed Electricity Bill
NCCOEEE, the broad based platform of all National Federations of Electricity Employees and Engineers held a strong protest demonstration on July 19, 2021 in different parts of the country.
These protests were held for two hours against the steps of the central government to transfer the state owned power utilities to private corporations through the enactment of the Electricity (Amendment) Bill, 2021. Nearly 60 per cent of the employees participated in these protest demonstrations.
The electricity employees union also submitted memorandums to the prime minister and the power minister separately demanding roll back of the proposed decision.
State level convention and dharnas will take place between July 27-August 6. The union has decided to resort to one day strike/work boycott on August 10, 2021, in the power sector.
