COMRADE Kakoli Khetrapal, a 52-year-old CPI(M) worker from Nabagram in East Burdwan's Jamalpur was hacked to death on Sunday, May 2nd. Trinamool Congress members, celebrating their election victory, entered her home while she was cooking and attacked her with a sharp weapon. Comrade Khetrapal died on way to the hospital. She was marked out for this brutal attack because she had worked as CPI(M)'s polling agent from Nabagram.

Stop the post-poll violence by the TMC on Left activists and Supporters

AFTER TMC’s victory, several Left activists and supporters across the state are being subjected to brutal violence. Many of them are in critical condition and have been admitted to hospitals. Comrade Kakali Khetrapal was martyred while resisting TMC’s attack in Burdwan’s Jamalpur. Over 10 houses in North 24 Parganas district have been vandalised by TMC goons. Several comrades in South 24 Parganas district are severely injured. Young comrades who are working as Red Volunteers are being threatened and beaten up. Women comrades are being followed home and given rape threats. Party offices and shops belonging to Left workers are being vandalised and burnt down across the state. The Party has condemned the TMC violence and urged people to come forward and resist this atmosphere of violence and demand that the offenders are identified and arrested immediately.
