Tripura: BJP Unleashes Violent Attacks on CPI(M) and Opposition Parties
The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on January 18, 2021
BJP’S ANTI-SOCIAL elements have launched a spree of fresh violence attacking CPI(M) leaders, activists and offices in Tripura. On January 17, they attacked a CPI(M) local committee office physically assaulting CPI(M) activists.
CPI(M) Tripura state committee member and state secretary of AIDWA, a sitting member of the Rajya Sabha, who upon hearing this went there was attacked by the BJP goons seriously injuring her and her security officer. Later they vandalised the MP’s residence and stole cash and other valuables.
BJP anti-social elements also attacked a sub-division committee office assaulting the secretary and security officers and ransacked the office, damaging vehicles.
They also attacked the president of the Congress party in a separate incident.
The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly condemns such violence unleashed by the BJP. Instead of doing its duty of maintaining peace, law and order, the BJP state government is patronising violent activities against the opposition. The people of Tripura will not tolerate such anti-democratic violent activities of BJP.
