J & K: People's alliance will contest DDC elections jointly
THE people's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration(PAGD) has stated that it will jointly contest the elections to the DDC(district development council). A statement in this regard was made on November 7, 2020, in Jammu. Farooq Abdulla from National Conference, Mehbooba Mufti from PDP and Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami from the CPI(M) amongst others were present during the press briefing.
This was the first meeting outside the Kashmir valley in Jammu which took place in the residence of Dr Farooq Abdulla.
Spokesperson of the People's Alliance, Sajjad Lone told the media that the PAGD is meeting different sections of the people and political parties of Jammu and they have also raised the problems of the region and share the same feeling which Kashmir has due to the decision of August 5, 2019, abrogating the Articles 370 and 35 A.
Speaking on the decision to contest elections, the PAGD spokesperson said that the decision has been taken unitedly despite the abruptness of timing, he further said: "This space is too secret in democracy and we will not allow it to be molested or marauded by invaders to invade and we well keep it for future generations."
