THE 11th state conference of Rajasthan AIDWA was held on August 27-28 at Hanumangarh. A public meeting was held before the conference which was addressed by Mariam Dhawale and other leaders of AIDWA. Mariam also inaugurated the conference. She castigated the Modi government for being anti-people and particularly anti-women. She spoke about growing unemployment, price rise etc., and called upon the women to build strong movement and organisation.
Leaders of fraternal organisations-CITU, AIKS, DYFI, Jan natya manch greeted the conference. A presidium comprising Chandrakala Verma, Raisaa, Tara Ghayal, Seema Jain and Kamla Meghwal were elected. The general secretary placed the draft report which was discussed in the conference. 140 delegates attended the conference and 23 delegates participated in the discussion and later the report was passed unanimously.
The conference elected the new state committee consisting of 27 members. The state committee elected Chandrakala Verma and Seema Jain as president and general secretary respectively of the Rajasthan AIDWA. (Seema Jain)
UTTAR PRADESH
KANPUR, the city of strong working class movements and Captain Laxmi Sehgal hosted the 11th state conference of AIDWA. Dr Shobha, president of the reception committee greeted the delegates of the conference. The conference was inaugurated by Subhashini Ali-vice president of AIDWA. She spoke about the historic role the women played in various fields. She also targeted the RSS and said an organisation that was against the basic spirit of national freedom movement is not controlling the reigns; one can imagine what is in the offing, she remarked. Three brave women were also honoured in the conference; Aini Naqvi who won the councilor post in JNU elections and hails from Kanpur, Manju from Mirzapur who has led struggles from forest to land and Ramkali from Lucknow who raised an abandoned child and educated her.
The delegate session was also addressed by Sudha Sundarraman and spoke about the importance of the conference. Malti, state secretary and Madhu Garg president of the AIDWA placed the report. Twenty six delegates participated in the discussion. The issues of ration, linkage of aadhar card, and land on lease were some of the important issues highlighted in the conference. Seven resolutions were also passed. These are; in defence of constitutional rights, against increase in violence on women and children, food security, land rights, separate law for domestic workers and economic slowdown.
120 delegates from 13 districts participated in the conference. 113 were Hindus, seven Muslims, 30 Dalits, and 62 from OBCs.
The conference elected the new state committee comprising 25 members. Suman Singh was elected as president and Seema Katiyar as general secretary.
Mariam Dhawale, concluded the conference sharing the challenges that the democratic movement in the country faces, particularly the women’s movement. She attacked the BJP government for strengthening the consciousness of hierarchy in the society. She said this party and the government is wedded to the ideology of Manu and does not have faith in the Indian Constitution. She called upon the women delegates to be prepared for these challenges.
