JAKKA VENKAIAH
CPI(M) Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on May 30
THE Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) mourns the passing away of Comrade Jakka Venkaiah, veteran leader of the Party in Andhra Pradesh and a former member of the Central Committee.
Jakka Venkaiah played a key role in building the Communist Party in Nellore district. He began the agricultural workers organisation and led many struggles.
After the formation of the CPI(M), he was mainly responsible for building the Party organisation and personally led many struggles of the agricultural labourers in the 1970s and the land struggles in the 1980s.
He discharged various responsibilities as the district secretary, member of the Party state secretariat and later the Central Committee. He also served as an MLA for two terms. He was a leader of impeccable integrity and a dedicated Marxist-Leninist.
The Polit Bureau pays its homage to Comrade Jakka Venkaiah. It conveys its heartfelt condolences to his wife and children.
AIKS, AIAWU condole Comrade Jakka Venkaiah
THE All India Kisan Sabha dips its red banner in memory of Comrade Jakka Venkaiah, veteran leader of the Communist Movement and leading organiser of the peasantry and agricultural workers in Andhra Pradesh, who passed away on May 29. Hailing from Nellore, he joined the Communist movement at an early age inspired by Comrade P Sundarayya and the historic Telangana Armed Peasants’ Struggle. He was vice president of the Andhra Pradesh Agricultural Workers’ Union and also a member of the central working committee of All India Agricultural Workers’ Union. He also helped in organising the peasantry and was the president of Nellore district Rythu Sangham. He has written extensively on issues of the working class and peasantry as well as on theoretical issues. He was twice elected member of the legislative assembly and also was a Central Committee member of the CPI(M). In his prolonged years of political activism he has been widely respected for his simple life-style, accessibility to all, the meticulous study of issues and active intervention in people’s struggles. All India Kisan Sabha expresses condolences to his family members and all comrades.

THE All India Agricultural Workers Union dips its red banner in the memory of Comrade Jakka Venkaiah, leading organiser of the agricultural workers in India and in Andhra Pradesh. He will always be in our memory as a powerful leader of the Telangana Armed Struggle. He was born in Nellore district and was vice president of the Andhra Pradesh AIAWU and a member of the central working committee of AIAWU. He was twice elected member of the legislative assembly and was member of the Central Committee of the CPI(M). He will be both missed dearly and remembered. AIAWU expresses its condolences to his family and comrades on behalf of the Central Committee of AIAWU.
