CPI(M) Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on March 6
THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly condemns the unleashing of unprecedented violence and arson by the RSS/BJP all across the state of Tripura in the aftermath of their victory in the recent assembly election.
CPI(M) and Left Party offices and cadres are targetted with murderous assaults. The destruction of the statue of Lenin, is symbolic of the rabid anti-communist, anti-democratic fascistic character of the RSS.
A delegation of the CPI(M) and Left Parties MPs submitted a memorandum to PM today in parliament detailing major incidents of such attacks. This memorandum is attached here with.
These attacks clearly demonstrate, once again, that the RSS/BJP rely mainly on unleashing political violence as means to advance their inherent anti-democratic agenda.
In solidarity with the CPI(M), Left Front and the democratic peace loving people of Tripura and comrades who are facing these attacks, the PB of CPI(M) calls upon its units all across the country to organise protest actions exposing the inherent anti-democratic, anti-people character and activities of RSS/BJP.

SAHMAT Condemns Lenin Statue Vandalism
THE vandalism against Lenin's statue in India's north-eastern state of Tripura by power-drunk Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers is most reprehensible, said a statement issued by the Safdar Hashmi Memorial Trust on March 6. Apart from his own epic role, Lenin was a friend of India's national movement, had his own preferred line on national movements in colonial countries, which was a source of strength to the Indian national movement.
This kind of violence, specially after an electoral victory, has no place in a democracy and needs to be resisted by democratic means, the statement said.
CITU Protests RSS-BJP Attacks on TU offices in Tripura
THE Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), in a statement issued on March 6, has strongly condemned the brutal attack on the Left activists and offices in Tripura being unleashed by the RSS- BJP hooligans just hours after the results of the Tripura assembly elections are out.
The BJP which has aligned with the separatist forces and used money and muscle power to win the elections has unleashed a reign of terror on the members and supporters of the Left parties and CITU, attacking their houses and offices throughout the state. Over 1500 houses were attacked. Hundreds of people were injured in the attacks. Hundreds of houses were set on fire. Hundreds of offices were attacked and captured. The attacks are still continuing.
These attacks are attacks on democracy. They once again demonstrate the utter contempt of RSS and the BJP for democracy and democratic institutions. They expose the anti-national character of these organisations which had no qualms in joining the separatist forces to come to power.
CITU demands that the concerned authorities intervene immediately and stop these heinous attacks on democracy at once.
CITU stands in solidarity with its cadres and with the cadres, rank and file of the Left and democratic organisations who are bravely resisting these attacks. CITU is confident that the Left and democratic forces who braved the terrorist, extremist and separatist forces in the past would defeat these forces of terror with the massive support of the people this time as well.
CITU calls upon all its affiliated unions and members, and the entire working class to protest these attacks on democracy. It urges them to join enmasse the solidarity actions being organised across the country by the Left organisations and democratic peace loving people.
AIRTWF Condemns Attacks on TMSU Offices
THE All India Road Transport Workers’ Federation, in a statement issued on March 6, has strongly condemned the brutal attacks on the Tripura Motor Shramik Union (TMSU) offices and their leaders throughout the state by the BJP/RSS goons. As on March 5th evening, 90 TMSU offices were captured and vandalised. The transport workers and toiling masses are being terrorised and many transport workers from Bihar and other states are going back to their home states due to the terror and attacks. All India Road Transport Workers’ Federation appeals to all the affiliated unions and the democratic forces throughout the country to organise protest actions and express solidarity to the Tripura motor transport workers in particular and the member/sympathisers of Left and democratic forces in the state of Tripura.
The Federation appeals to the union government particularly the ministry of home affairs to intervene and to put an end to the vandalism in the state of Tripura. The people of Tripura voted for BJP and its allies to rule the state and fulfil the aspirations of the people but not to unleash attacks on the Left and democratic forces in the state. Even before the formation of the government, such large scale attacks are taking place. It can be assumed that after the formation of the government how these anti-social elements will destabilise the state and the livelihood of the poor workers.
