TELANGANA: Centenary Celebrations of the Russian Revolution

MARKING the conclusion of centenary celebrations of the October Revolution, a meeting was organised by the CPI(M) on November 7 at MB Bhavan in Hyderabad. State secretariat member of the Party, T Jyothi hoisted the Red Flag. Addressing the meeting held on the occasion, G Nagayya, state secretariat member of the Party, lauded the October Revolution as a beacon light which had given inspiration to peoples in several countries to conduct class struggles for achieving the lofty ideals of well-being of humanity and ensuring equal opportunities to the people. He explained how transformation had taken place in different fields in the Soviet Union after the October Revolution to pave way for establishment of Socialist society. After the formation of the Modi government, attacks on dalits and minorities have ncreased and minorities are being treated as second class citizens in the country, Nagayya said. In Telangana, under chief minister Chandrasekhar Rao, authoritarian and family rule has been going on, Jyothi criticised. She expressed serious concern about crisis in agriculture, discontent among the youth and unemployed and growing atrocities on women in the state. Drawing inspiration from the October Revolution, there is need for sharpening class struggles in our country for eradication of poverty and inequalities, and against the policies of the central and state governments, the CPI(M) leaders said. State secretariat member of the CPI(M) G Ramulu presided over the meeting.
Senior leader of the CITU, G Raghupal hoisted the flag at the office of the state CITU in Hyderabad. Speaking on the occasion, M Saibabu, general secretary of the state committee of CITU, said drawing inspiration from the October Revolution, struggles for solving the problems of the working class should be intensified. He pointed out that during the last one year, the achievements of the October Revolution have been explained by conducting seminars and conventions and publishing and distributing special booklets in the state. Several leaders of CITU and mass organiSations participated in the programme.
