PUNJAB: SFI-DYFI Observe Bhagat Singh's Birth Anniversary

THE Punjab units of Students’ Federation of India and the Democratic Youth Federation of India have organised a massive rally on the occasion of  the 110th birthday of Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh at his native village Khatkar kalan on September 28. A large number of students and youth, among whom were a good number of girls, from all over Punjab participated in the rally.  The rally adopted a resolution in which it was decided to start a campaign throughout Punjab by both the organisations jointly from October 2-31, on the two demands of putting an end to drug addiction and providing employmentThe memorandum signed by lakhs of youth and students will be submitted to the chief minister through district commissioners on the foundation day of DYFI on November 1-2-3, 2017.

Paramjit Singh Rori, DYFI state president and Harinder Singh Bajwa, SFI state president presided over the rally. The rally resolved to continue struggle to fulfill the dreams of the martyrs. The rally pledged to bring an end to exploitation of man by man by following the socialist ideas of the martyrs. The speakers expressed grave concern at the incidents of JNU, DU, Univeristy of Hyderabad, IIT Madras and now BHU where the rightist forces are trying to stifle the freedom of expression by misusing university administration, police, civil administration, corporate media and other organisations of the RSS. They said that assasinations of rational thinkers and progressive writers by identical modus operandi is alarming. The rally decided to intensify the struggle against communal and fascistic forces.  They condemned the spurt in incidents of intolerance, attacks on women, dalits and minorities which have increased manifold since the Modi led BJP government came to power at the centre.

The rally was addressed by Balvir Singh, all India treasurer of DYFI, Swaranjit Singh Dalio, DYFI state secretary, Hoshiar Singh, SFI central secretariat member, Ravinder Panjawa, SFI state secretary, Vijay Misra, CITU state president and other leaders.
