State-Level Study Class for Students

A Four day state-level study class was successfully organised by the SFI Maharashtra state committee at CITU Bhavan, Nashik last month. 194 delegates from 15 districts, among whom 42 were girls, attended the class. The class was inaugurated by the CITU state general secretary Dr D L Karad by paying homage to Shaheed Bhagat Singh. After the inauguration he took a session on “Today’s Student, Tomorrow’s Worker”. In the second session of the day, Prof Milind Wagh took a session on “Commercialisation of Education”. This session was followed by cultural activities. The second day started with a session on “Drought: Natural or Man-made?” taken by all India vice president of the All India Agricultural Workers Union (AIAWU), Kumar Shiralkar. The next session on the “Educational Conditions of Tribals, Dalits and Minorities” was taken by Dr Sanjay Dabhade. In the third session, AIKS state general secretary Dr Ajit Nawale spoke on “Religion, Caste and Class” and this energised the delegates to look at society in a new way. On the third day, SFI all India general secretary Vikram Singh took a session on “Nationalism and Attacks on Education”. He dealt with the BJP government’s saffronisation of education and its attack on the battlefields of ideas. The second session was taken by SFI central executive committee member Manjushri Kabade, on the “Women’s Question”. On the third day, all the delegates were divided into various groups. In only two hours, from the streets of Nashik, they collected a total fund of Rs 25,125 with great enthusiasm. AIKS state vice president J P Gavit, MLA, greeted the study class and promised all help to the SFI. CITU state vice president Sitaram Thombre, AIAWU state general secretary Baliram Bhumbe and MSMRA leader Mukund Ranade also extended their warm greetings. The fourth day was devoted to organisation and political challenges. SFI central secretariat member and state secretary Datta Chavan explained the SFI Programme and Constitution. Organisation building was taken by SFI state president Mohan Jadhav. In the concluding session, AIKS all India joint secretary Dr Ashok Dhawale dealt with the “Current Political Challenges” and exposed the anti-people, pro-corporate, pro-imperialist, socially retrograde and rabidly communal nature of the BJP central government. The SFI state committee thanked the Nashik district committees of the CPI(M), CITU and AIKS for their generous help in the successful organisation of the camp. All the activists of Nashik SFI were felicitated with roses for their hard work in making the class a great success.
