Central Pay Hike Disappointing
The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on June 30, 2016
THE pay hike for central government employees announced by the central government has been disappointing. Based on the Seventh Central Pay Commission’s recommendations, there is only an increase of 14.2 percent in the emoluments in terms of gross salary and the increase in the take-home pay is just 7.4 percent for the lowest category. The central government has deferred the decision on the revision in allowances.
The ratio between the lowest and the highest scale continues to be wide with the ratio being 1:14.
It is unfortunate that the government did not consider it worthwhile to have discussions with the employees’ organisations before making the announcement on salaries and pension.
The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) demands that the government hear the views of the employees organisations in the matter and on that basis to make a revised announcement.
