JAMMU AND KASHMIR: CPI(M) Condoles the Demise of Com Bishan Dass
THE Jammu and Kashmir state committee of the CPI(M) has expressed grief over the sad demise of Comrade Bishan Dass, who was a veteran kisan and senior CPI(M) leader. He died on May 6 after a brief illness at Jammu.
Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, MLA and CPI(M) leader while recalling his long association with the departed leader said that Comrade Bishan Dass was a great revolutionary who till his last breath fought for the cause of neglected, downtrodden and peasantry of the state. Upholding the banner of the Party in Jammu region, he vehemently opposed the divisive and communal forces in Jammu and battled for maintaining the unity of the three regions of the state. His demise at this crucial stage is a great loss to the toiling masses including peasantry and working class people of the state.
Gh Nabi Malik, state secretary of CPI(M) J&K has also expressed sorrow over the sudden demise of Comrade Bishan Dass. Sham Prasad Kesar, regional secretary, CPI(M), Jammu in a condolence message highlighted the significant role Comrade Bishan Dass had played in uniting the working class people in the state particularly in Jammu region and said that his sudden death has created a void which cannot be filled in times to come.
Comrade Bishan Dass was one of the pioneers of kisan movement in Jammu who came into contact with Harkishan Singh Surjeet in 1957 and became member of the All India Kisan Sabha. In 1972, he became the state committee member of CPI(M). He remained regional secretary of CPI(M), Jammu upto 2004 and was also president J&K Kisan Tehreek.
