On the 13th afternoon, Bijan Dhar briefed the media about the outcome of the meeting. He was accompanied by CPI(M) Central Committee member Gautam Das. He said the principal call of the meeting was to improve the quality of the Party members, for further strengthening the CPI(M) in the state. He said it has been decided that to implement the call of the organisational plenum to develop CPI(M) into a robust all India revolutionary party with a mass line, the Party here has to follow mass line, strengthen class and mass struggles, encourage socialist ideas among the Party members and toiling masses, further strengthen the tribal non-tribal unity in the state and the unity of masses irrespective of religious beliefs and this unity will be the weapon against the divisive forces. We have to consolidate and further expand our support base that has expanded as thousands of people have joined us during the last one year. By taking these measures we intend to build up a strong and revolutionary CPI(M) in Tripura.
Elaborating the decisions, Bijan Dhar said this will mean to further stress on inducting Party members from workers, agricultural workers, poor peasants, jumia, poorer sections, women and other socially backward sections; to have continuous political education for qualitative development of the Party members and to enthuse them to actively participate in mass struggles; to wage struggles against the multifarious attacks on the communist movement, on the unity of the people by the IPFT and RSS-BJP; launch ideological struggles against the negative impact on the different sections of the society as a result of the neo-liberal economic policies; to launch relentless struggles on the issues related to people, to the state, against neo-liberal policies, against imperialist activities and for social justice; to promote new and young cadres to different responsibilities; the development programmes of the Left Front government and the TTAADC, despite non cooperation from the central government are to be given adequate publicity and problems being faced in their implementation are to be openly confessed to the people; to wage popular struggles against social evils like crime against women, drug addiction and gambling and finally, to further strengthen inner party democracy, the organisational principle of democratic centralism and criticism and self-criticism inside the Party so that the Party members can enjoy greater scope of frank discussion. Bijan Dhar said, by taking these steps we intend to build a CPI(M) with a revolutionary character.
