Left will Rebuild Bengal

From Our Special Correspondent

SIX day Singur-Salboni march ended with a call for rebuilding West Bengal, after dislodging the TMC regime. The march, with participation of tens of thousands, culminated in a huge rally in Salboni in West Midnapore district. People, mainly from terror-stricken Jungle Mahal areas attended the rally.

Addressing the rally, Surjyakanta Misra categorically declared that the Left Front, if elected to power, would revitalise the industrialisation process in the state. Misra said that industrialisation will be done on the basis of revitalisation of agriculture. Agriculture in the state is facing an acute crisis. The Left Front will take measures to develop agriculture. During the Left Front government, the agriculture scenario had changed radically. The state became a leader in rice and vegetable production. The TMC has destroyed those achievements. Only the Left can usher in the resurgence of agriculture.

Misra said, land is sensitive to peasants, whether it is farmland or homestead land. We don’t want to take lands from peasants. Many industries have fled from Bengal during the TMC regime, many have not started their projects. Industries will be developed in those lands.

Misra admitted that there were lapses on the part of the Left Front government and declared that the Left has the courage to admit mistakes. Those will not be repeated. West Bengal has reached to the point of decadence during the TMC regime. Running industries have closed, unprecedented crisis has set in in the tea gardens, and employment generation has virtually stopped. There is no other option but to oust this government. The state will start its new march with the Left. The Left is on the struggle in the fields and we will build the state too.

Shyamal Chakraborty, convenor of Bengal Platform of Mass Organisations, said that the people of the state are now on a warpath. The time for a change has come.
